Museum Island - Berlin's Magical Treasure Trove - An Introductory Walking Tour

On this three hour leisurely walking tour I would like to provide an introduction to the astounding wealth and history of Berlin's Museum Island with you. The island set in the Spree river assembles a complex of five marvelous museums originally established between 1830 and 1930. The Altes Museum today displays objects from Greek and Roman Antiquity, whereas the Neues Museum has the Egyptian and Pre- and Early History Collections. The Pergamon Museum contains mighty partial reconstructions of the hellenistic Pergamon Altar and the Roman Market Gate of Miletus, as well as of the Ishtar Gate of Ancient Babylon, and other objects of Western Asiatic Antiquity. The Bode Museum hosts the old European Sculpture Collection, the Alte Nationalgalerie focuses on 19th century art. Finally, in 2021, the "Humboldtforum im Berliner Schloss" opened its doors, externally a replica of the historic Berlin Palace, which now presents the Berlin collections of historic art from Asia, Africa, the South Pacific and the Americas.
