A "Senior Guide" by now, being a tour guide since 1994, I'm still passionate about this ever-changing town. This is Berlin to me: modern German politics, city planning, Prussian kings and emperors, avantgarde arts and cultures, multiethnic life, dreamy lakeshores, a great amount of freedom. . . but mostly, of course, it's the 20th century history which counts here. The two big tales of the 20th century were Berlin-made - one of deepest misery and one of highest joy - Hitler's Third Reich and the Fall of the Berlin Wall. It was the fascination of Berlin after the Wall had gone, the split city becoming one, that made me turn Berlin into my profession. I offer expertise and experience, comprehensive, top-quality and knowledgeable services, always focusing on my guests's interests and wishes. All my tours can be taken either with minivan, bus, or walking/taxi/public transport. All tours in English, Spanish or German. Overview of your Berlin tour
Before Hitler, a third of German Jews lived in Berlin, and their traces are all over the town. With a van, we can cover sites off the main city area. The Wannsee Conference Villa, and Memorial Track 17, are powerful reminders of the beginning and organization of the Holocaust. I will tell you stories of hide-outs, betrayal, and survival in Otto Weidt's Workshop for the Blind Museum, one of my favorite places in Berlin, as it breaks down the immensity of the crime to individual stories. I'm an expert of National Socialist and Jewish History of Berlin, striving to convey this darkest chapter of German history in a sensitive, informative way. The importance of Berlin Jews for the city's history, e. g. the art sponsor James Simon, or painter Max Liebermann, is eminent. I'm experienced in guiding Holocaust Studies tours in Berlin, also to Krakow and Auschwitz. Also view my Jewish History Walk, tour #15256.
