Welcome to Berlin! It derserves your attention! It is the most interesting, dynamic and multifaceted city today. My name is Karin and I take great pleasure knowing that you have chosen Berlin for your visit and have a great desire that you come to understand this complex city so riddled with history. I am an experienced, knowledgable, certified local tour guide for Berlin and Potsdam. Even though I was born here, I did not grow up here. I came back to Berlin from Spain (with long interludes in Canada and California) in 1994. What I found was incredibly uniuqe: a city toppeling over with so much history and history in the making. From the first moment on I was spellbound. I became obsessed with its history and development. I talked to people both from the East and West to find out their stories and opinions. Today, I have the feeling Berlin is catching up with itself to finally reach its potential that was interupted with the rise of the 3rd. Reich. I want to share with you the love and compassion I have developed for Berlin and take you on that journey. Even though I have set private tours, they can be planed according to your interests and time. I give walking tours, tours using public transport, taxi, hired car or minivan. You can choose to have a general overview, or go in depth into a particular subject or neighbourhood. It is well worth your time. Explore different themes such as Jewish life then and now, the Cold War along with private life in Eastern Germany, Imperial Berlin, WWII as well as getting off the beaten track to show you the fascinating and varied neighbourhoods, each one with its own development and history. In all my private tours I use images and newspaper articles to illustrate the past and draw links to the present. Dresden, the phoenix city that rose from the ashes of World War II, is a stunning Baroque jewel on the banks of the Elbe River in Central Germany, just 165 km from Berlin. Once part of East Germany, Dresden was nearly destroyed in 1945. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, a dedicated restoration began. Today, the city gleams in all its glory, truly earning its nickname: The Florence of the Elbe. Meißen, the charming porcelain capital along the Elbe, captivates with its medieval charm. Perched on a hill, its castle and cathedral create a breathtaking silhouette. Since 1708, Meißen has produced exquisite European porcelain—making it a must-see. Moritzburg is one of Central Europe’s most magnificent Baroque summer palaces. Accessible via a tree-lined avenue, it sits on an island in a serene lake. With four imposing towers, Moritzburg was the dream residence of the eccentric Elector August the Strong of Saxony.

We were staying in Berlin and looking for a day trip attraction outside the city. We booked a tour with Karin to Dresden, with other stops along the way. Scheduling was easy, and Karin did a great job providing historic and current commentary. Perhaps the most fun (and at our request) was flying down the Autobahn at who knows what speed, with some heavy German rock music playing over the speakers in their fabulous Mercedes touring mobile. Great tour and I highly recommend booking with Karin.

Your Berlin tour itinerary

We’ll begin early at 8 a.m., setting off for Dresden. Arriving around 10 a.m., we’ll meet our local guide (included in the price) for a fascinating tour of this stunning Baroque city, lasting until about noon. At approximately 1 p.m., after exploring more of Dresden’s neighborhoods by car, we’ll enjoy lunch in the historic city center. Post-lunch, we’ll visit medieval Meißen, the renowned capital of porcelain. After touring the Porcelain Manufactory, we’ll stop at Moritzburg — the magnificent summer residence of August the Strong, King of Saxony in the 1700s — where we’ll relax with refreshments on its beautiful terraces before heading back to Berlin.
