Hello to you all. I am Nikola and I come from Split. I was born and raised in Split. I have been a guide since I was 18 years old and tourism was coming back to Croatia after the war. I am a licensed tourist guide since 2002 and I am a founding member of Association of tour guides in Split. Being a tourist guide is in my blood. I am a passionate history freak since childhood interested in all kind of historical theaters. A walk with me is a trip down the path of deep inside historical view. I follow military history and always read military history books and magazines. I also follow politics and have opinion on world events and politics. Since 2013 I teach at the Course for tourist guides two subjects. Operational aspects of a guided tour and Split-dalmatian county history and facts. I am a fan of Game of Thrones that I have been following since the first day and I was an extra in Season 5. You can see me well in episode 2 season 5. All historical and fantasy shows are my soul food. Lord of the Rings is one of the favorites. I like music and I have a hard rock/metal band. My favorite music is Heavy metal and I follow the scene for last 25 years. Also I am a fan of historical computer games and I am fan of Total War series since the beginning and I played them all. I am the author of 5 books. SF novel called "Legionares" that has been released to bookstores in 2022 and fantasy novels called "Children of the Founder" and the sequel "Children of the Empire" released in 2023 and 2025. I also wrote a manual for the "Operational aspects of a guided tour" for tour guides in 2022 and the biography of my grandfathers World War II extraordinary path "My Grandfather - The Last Nazi Death Camp Prisoner" in 2023. My books are available in English on Amazon and for the international market I write under the pen name Nick Altman. A Gift of Nature in the Dalmatian Hinterland - Day Trip from Split
Overview of your Split tour
Even if Dalmatia if famous for its islands and the sea this beautiful river is a gem that you want to see in the midst of Dalmatian karst. A force of nature that will amaze with its torrential waters. We will be visiting one of the the eight National Parks in Croatia, from 1985 it is protected by UNESCO. It consists of travertine cascades, islands and lakes. Belvederes have been erected at the most attractive locations. Skradinski Buk, as the last and the most beautiful of Krka waterfalls, offers the view to ethnographic collection and old mills where the grain is milled with a millstone turned by the force of the water, as well as ancient devices for washing clothing and textiles. Not to forget a small electric power plan with generators of alternating current according to Nikola Tesla (Croatian born) inventions, which gave the public illumination to city of Šibenik in 1895. My familiy is from Šibenik region and I spent all of my summers in this area - just found yourself an experienced local guide!

- A drive to NP Krka around 70 minutes by car, cca. 90km to the west of Split - Passing the bay of Kaštela, ancient city of Trogir, olive fields near Marina, famous vineyards of Primošten (great place to take some photos) - Getting a good view of the lowest island of our coast, island of Krapanj known in the past for sponge diving - Driving by city of Šibenik, the largest town and capital of Šibenik County - As we arrive to the park, we will hike together along the wooden paths constructed above the water - Discovering river flora and fauna and admiring the waterfalls along the paths - Remains the oldest AC hydro power plant in the area (and only three days younger than the Niagara Falls hydro power plant) - Exploring the amazing ethno-village and the old, restored 19th-century watermills - Possible stop for lunch a excellent local traditional food restaurants - Good walking shoes recommended - Let me know if you want to see something in particular, I will customize the tour
