Hello everyone! My name is Antonjeta, born and raised at the very heart of Split in neighbourhood Grad, next to the walls of the world famous Diocletian's palace. I have been a proffesional tour guide for a bit more than 5 years , but I have earned my masters degree in archeology and germanistic studies at Univesity of Zadar a long time ago. I have previously worked in museums , restoration institutions as well in tour companies thanks to my language speaking skills Besides learning about history of my amazing hometown Split and Croatia of course, while walking through hidden streets of the Palace and scouting Roman traces, I will provide you a perfect window to look into the lives of a typical Dalmatian person living inside this beautiful palace/city with a continuity of life for more than 1700 Years! One thing is for sure, Split is one of the most unique cities in the world because its heart lies within a 1700-year-old Roman palace and nothing you've heard or read before coming can fully prepare you for what you will find and explore here. I will share with you a part of Split that I love , which full of wonderful flavors. We' ll visit the shops I have been going for years and indulge our buds in tasting good food directly in shops and at market stalls . Through hand made chocolate to surprisingly good chard in dough and domestic cheese you will learn this country and its people better than through any guide book. I can customize this tour according to your request.
We had a wonderful food and cultural tour with Antonjeta. She was very personable and extremely knowledgeable. She shared historical facts and stories, and personal experiences, as we toured the palace and market sampling local fare. Antonjeta’s passion for Split shines through as she guides you through the cobblestone alleys stopping at various vendors and shops for tastings. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with her.
A big thank you for a fabulous morning in Split combining history and local gastronomy so perfectly! Jasenka was the perfect guide as she knew all the history as well as more quirky facts. We went to the market and tasted local produce including cherries and brandy and then wandered round the smaller areas in the old town pointing out interesting buildings and bars and tasting chocolate and ice cream on the way!
