Embark on a 2,5-hour walking tour through Split, where history and modern life intertwine seamlessly. We begin by exploring the UNESCO-listed Old Town, with a deep dive into Diocletian’s 4th-century palace—the heart of the city. Marvel at the ancient mix of Roman and medieval architecture, including the impressive Peristil Square, the palace walls with four gates, and the Mausoleum (now St. Domnius's Cathedral). You’ll also visit the Palace Substructures and see Jupiter’s Temple. Nearby, you’ll discover the former Jewish ghetto where a synagogue is still active today, and hear about local Jewish history. Next, we stroll through Split's vibrant farmers’ and fishermen’s markets, passing famous squares like Pjaca and Prokurative. Along the way, learn about the city’s socio-political evolution under Venetian, French, Austrian-Hungarian, and Yugoslav rule. The tour culminates in the charming Varoš neighborhood, and ends at the scenic Riva promenade by the sea (or in front of your cruise ship).
