My name is Katja, I am a licensed tour guide and dedicated travel specialist with 18 years of industry expertise and three master's degrees. Born and raised in Split, I studied in Croatia and Austria and traveled throughout Europe in my twenties. I have gained expertise in intercultural communication, arts and history. I know what makes a tour memorable: an in-depth knowledge of a highly educated guide; an intimate, flexible approach that focuses entirely on your preferences; and a relaxed, personalized pace that includes access to some cute hidden gems. Whether you want an island escape, a cultural deep dive, or a scenic nature adventure, I pride myself on my attention to detail, flexibility, and high level of service. I ensure that everyone in the group feels valued and fully immersed in the experience. What sets me apart? The unique blend of skills and experiences I bring to every journey. Beyond guiding, I have a decade of experience as a schoolteacher, giving me a natural ability to connect with children and create educational and fun experiences for families. I know how to adapt tours for different age groups, keeping younger travelers curious and engaged while allowing parents and grandparents to relax and enjoy themselves. As a published author, I offer a deeper, more meaningful perspective on Croatia’s cultural heritage and political background. I bring stories to life, connect historical narratives with contemporary changes, and provide unique insights into local settings. This combination of expertise and sensibility ensures that my tours are transdisciplinary, dynamic and inspiring. Whether traveling with children or seeking a richer cultural experience, my guests enjoy a truly one-of-a-kind journey. As a passionate equestrian and dog lover, I am happy to say that pets are welcome on all my walking tours, so you can enjoy the tour with your beloved animal companions. I can also adapt all my tours to accommodate guests with walking disabilities, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone. This walking tour covers all the highlights of the UNESCO-protected old town of Split including Diocletian's Palace and all its nooks & crannies. As the centuries unfold under your feet you, we'll find out how this Roman complex from the late 3rd century AD became a small medieval settlement, then one of most important Venetian ports and finally the 2nd biggest town in modern Croatia. What I'll cover is not only historical background and stunning architecture, but also witty curiosities about the local lifestyle, the best places for photo sessions and valuable tips on how to get the most of your stay in Split. After the walking part, we get picked up by the chauffeur for a private ride around the wider city center, including stops at Marjan hill viewpoint, Meštrović villa garden and famous Bačvice beach.
