Split & Trogir in One Day: Private Tour of Two UNESCO Cities

We drive to the farther city first to beat the traffic — if you're staying in Split or arriving by cruise ship, Trogir comes first (40-min scenic drive along the coast). Trogir (2 h) — the island town: city gates, main square with the Renaissance loggia, Duke's Palace, hidden courtyards — and the Cathedral of St. Lawrence with Radovan's Portal of 1240, the finest medieval carving on the Adriatic (entrance included). Drive back to Split (40 min) — with my tips for the rest of your stay. Split (2 h) — Diocletian's Palace: the Riva promenade, Peristyle and its Egyptian sphinxes, the Golden Gate, and the Cathedral of St. Domnius — a Roman emperor's mausoleum turned church (entrance included).
