Bonjour !! My name is Louis. My french ancestors came to Ville-Marie in 1708 and my family has been living in Montréal since then. I'm a seasoned touristic guide with 30 years of experience in tourism. I started as a tour leader with french company Club Med in the 1980's. This allowed me to travel and discover many different countries such as Morrocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Senegal, French Polynesia, Bahamas, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Mexico. I came back to settle down in Montréal for good in the early 1990's. Then, I was a tour leader in the eastern part of Canada (provinces ofQuébec and Ontario) and New England (New-York city, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D. C. mostly). I've been a Montréal's city licensed tour guide since 1997. I'm passionately in love with this city of mine -the only one in North America that offers both french and english cultures. I sincerely would like to share this passion with you. Come to discover the old historic district with me !! I've been a Montréal's city licensed tour guide since 1997.

This tour concentrates on the public places in downtown Montreal. Dorchester square and Place du Canada occupy two entire city blocks, right next to each other. That makes them similar but also different -like 2 nonidentical twins. Along these blocks, we'll see both historical buildings as well as more recent buildings like the iconic Sun Life building and the Marriott Chateau Champlain. We'll also see Victoria Square, located in the former Hay Market, symbolizing the «two solitudes» : the anglophones Montrealers with the statue of Queen Victoria and a genuine early 1900 Paris subway entrance. Furthermore, we'll visit Phillips Square, recently totally revamped by the city of Montreal. It's where department store The Bay and Birks jewelry (now an exclusive hotel) are located. On top of that, we'll see Place-Jean-Paul Riopelle, the most modern of all the squares. Tour aussi disponible en Français.
Our tour will include the following stops: -Dorchester square and Place du Canada with its 19th century buildings. -Victoria square with its Queen Victoria statue. -Phillip's square with one of Montreal's tallest and most recent 200 m tall condo buildings, 1SP (One Square Phillips). -Place Jean-Paul Riopelle, named after a very talented local sculptor.

Walking.
Montreal, Quebec, Canada
If your hotel is close enough (no more than five to ten minutes walking) from any of these public places, I could meet you there. Otherwise, we could figure out an alternative together.
