Birding tour in Brazil.

It was a pleasure spending time with Marcelo. We, my husband, myself and our friend, had a fantastic time birding with Marcelo, an excellent birding guide and industrious individual. Marcelo knew the 'off the beaten track' places to find the birds and found a Red-breasted Trogan for me. We wandered down gorgeous forests path with no other people in sight - just a great variety of birds - adding many first sightings to our e-bird list. (He sent us the ebird list right after our tour which we really appreciated.) Marcelo was also knowledgeable about the history, culture and the flora and fauna of the area. While Marcelo was engaging and a delight to spend time with, he was also a great host, providing not only cold water but also a lovely snack. (Our friend was a first time birder and Marcelo was so helpful that she is now taking up birding and opened an e-bird account.) We highly recommend Marcelo for birding or general tours of the Iguazu falls and area. Thank you for a great day, Marcelo!!

I spent the morning with Marcelo looking for birds to photograph and came away having learned so much. Marcelo is very passionate about nature in general and birds in particular. He identified many birds by their calls and was keen for them to come close enough and in good light to be photographed. Unfortunately not all were cooperating but this was not Marcelo’s fault. He went out of his way to get me sightings and went over time to try to increase my photo opportunities. I had many sightings but not as many photo opportunities. Would I have loved more cooperative birds? Yes, but that is nature and I don’t think many guides would have tried as hard or for so long as Marcelo did.

Marcelo was a superb and very knowledgeable guide. He showed-up at our hotel on time and ready to go before sunrise. His car was comfortable and Marcelo is a good driver. Marcelo speaks several languages and his English is good. He was courteous and informative regarding the natural history of the area. Marcelo knows his birds! He was able to identify species by sound alone or only by a glimpse of the bird. We saw many birds on his tour including several new “life” birds. He took us to Uguazu falls just before the park was inundated with other tourists, so we had beautiful unobstructed views of the falls. All in all it was an exceptional day. We have been birding for nearly 50 years and we highly recommend Marcelo.

Marcelo knows the region's natural history very broadly & in great detail. He understands the taxonomy, the plants and animals and their ecology, birds especially. More importantly, he can assess his audience and tailor the scope & focus of information to what you want or need most. Enthusiastic and charming, Marcelo is a great field naturalist.

Highly recommended! If you are a birder who's going to spend some time near Iguazu Falls, you have to book Marcelo's Birding Tour. He's a terrific birder by eye and ear -- he even stopped his car a couple of times because he heard an interesting species that we got out to see. Marcelo drove us to quite a few birding hotspots, where we saw 80-plus species over a long morning -- most of them lifers for us. Marcelo is an engaging and informative guide who knows the flora and fauna.

Marcelo is an expert in birds and he can see and hear the birds from far away. He also knows the different places where different birds can be seen. Our family had a wonderful time with him. After the bird-watching he took us to a local restaurant which we enjoyed a lot. We will definitely spend more time with Marcelo next time when we visit Iguazu Falls. He's wonderful.
