I am originally from France, having immigrated to the US in 1984 when I was 17. I moved to New York City in 2002 to go to graduate school to study sculpture at the New York Academy of Art. I fell in love with the city, and have been living here ever since. I am currently a Brooklyn-based artist whose work uses non-traditional materials such as recycled plastic shopping bags with traditional feminine crafts such as knitting, crochet and lace. I make large-scale installations using plastic and detritus as the main materials, and drawing on community-engagement and performance as a major component of the work. I taught as an adjunct professor at Wagner College on Staten Island, (drawing, sculpture, and public art) until 2020. My passion is art, and I want to share my love of New York City through all the wonderful public art that you can see around the city. I will show you iconic New York, and some hidden treasures for a memorable experience. New York City Sight Seeing License Master of Fine Arts - Sculpture. New York Academy of Art, New York, NY

From the Dutch arrival in 1624 who started trading with the Lenape Indians, to the massive influx of immigrants coming in the 19th century, downtown is the birth place of New York, and has been shaped by the diversity and energy of its residents. The public art of the financial district traces New York's major historical and economic events. As a former art professor, I will walk with you from Battery Park to City Hall, showing you all the artwork that have made downtown a unique neighborhood. We will start in Battery Park, next to Castle Clinton, New York's immigration center before Ellis Island opened. We will make our way up Broadway, a former Lenape hunting trail, past the American Indian Museum and Charging Bull. We will go deep inside the Financial District, and see treasures by artists such as Louise Nevelson, Jean Dubuffet, and Mark di Suvero. We will also see the 9/11 memorial and the Irish Hunger Memorial, as well as admire architectural gems such as Trinity Church and the Woolworth Building.
-The tour will start at Castle Clinton, inside Battery Park. We will walk to the Alexander Hamilton Custom House, go past Charging Bull, then make our way to the NY Stock Exchange to see Fearless Girl. -We will go up Wall St, see Trinity Church, the tallest building in the US until 1869. We will enter the heart of the Financial District and go to the Chase Manhattan Plaza, home to an amazing Dubuffet sculpture. We will walk to Maiden Lane to see the Louise Nevelson Plaza, the first public place to be named after an artist in New York. -We will walk through Zuccotti Park, site of Occupy Wall Street, and home to a fantastic group of contemporary art. We will go through the 9/11 memorial, cross the highway to see a piece of the Berlin wall and the Irish Hunger Memorial. -We will cross back to Broadway, and look at the Woolworth Building, designed by Cass Gilbert, and end the tour at City Hall, the oldest city hall in the US, where you can choose to walk across the Brooklyn bridge, or simply sit in the park!
