Aloha! I'm Demian, owner of Makana Maui Adventures, who grew up on the East, West, and far West coastlines of the U. S. With a passion for exploring the Hawaiian Islands, since my father moved to Lanai and the Big Island In 1988. For 17 years, Hawaii was my home away from California, leaving no stone unturned, while always discovering something new and incredible about this paradise. The Aloha spirit of the islands were instilled in me and knew it was a matter of time before committing to full time living on my favorite island of all, Maui! 15 years ago. The natural wonders, lifestyle, and history of discovering the Hawaiian islands inspired me to start doing private tours 10 years ago, having gained extensive experience in adventure tours, jungle excursions, cultural sightseeing tours, hiking tours, and multi-day experiences, with an education on Hawaiian history, flora, fauna and Volcanology. I've been in the ocean my entire life on all coasts, from boating, fishing, netting for shrimp and crab, ocean sports, diving, to being an avid open water swimmer. A real passion of mine is to discover places I truly resonate with. I apply this wherever I go, having explored internationally since the mid 90's. I have done hundreds of successful Hana tours and love connecting people to such incredible nature. Drive around Haleakala Volcano through the lush rainforest of East Maui. Whether you prefer more sightseeing or adventure, there are countless choices along the way, making my private tour flexible with plenty to do. The tour is flexible for either a rainforest tour or full road to Hana loop (depending on road conditions of the south road, the Pi'ilani Hwy on full loop).
Demian was amazing on our Road to Hana tour. His navigation of the winding Road made us feel safe and relaxed. His stops for ice cream and pizza were at just the right times. Our short walk to a hidden gem waterfall and an arboretum helped us really experience the rain forest. We enjoyed our "life journey" conversations with him during the tour. We definitely can recommend this tour to others.

Demian was a great guide - so informative and most importantly an excellent driver. Do not drive road to Hana on your own! The narrow curvy roads are full of local trucks that make this drive dangerous unless you have experience - plus if you are driving you’ll miss many sites and GPS will not work in many places. Let Demian take you to the best places in Maui that you can’t find on your own - you will not regret it! Even our picky teens didn’t complain about 10 hours in a car with parents. Maholo Demian!
This was a wonderful tour of the Road to Hana. We visited so many interesting and beautiful areas. Demian was an excellent tour guide. He was so very knowledgeable about the area including history, flowers, rain forest, and so much more. He was also very accommodating to our group of five and took us to places that were of interest to us. We were able to see so much of Maui on this full day tour that would not have been possible, if it weren't for Demian's expertise.
Fabulous day! Damian was incredibly knowledgeable about history, geology, plants, birds, and great spots off the tourist track. It was fun to explore and spend the day learning from him. Would highly recommend him as a guide!
Road to Hana tour: Demian was a pleasure to work with. All communications were excellent. He arrived promptly and picked up our group of 5 at 2 different hotels. The vehicle was clean and comfortable. We had such a great day and he suggested things that we would have missed on our own. For lunch, Demian suggested a place we likely would have passed by and had a delicious meal. Everything we asked to experience was worked into the schedule. He was very personable and knowledgeable.
