Hi and a big welcome to our home Northern Ireland. I am Rodney and I would be delighted to show you around Northern Ireland. We have spectacular scenery, the rich culture in our Towns and Cities and lots of great places to visit and experiences to enjoy. I have a real passion for the History of Ireland I love telling the stories of our people and their lives. I love travelling around the world and appreciate the welcome I have experienced in so many countries and the fun enjoyed meeting locals and sharing in their lives. In my tours I like to share this welcome with our visitors. My walking and driven tours will allow you to experience and explore Northern Ireland through the eyes of a local. If you are interested in history, beautiful coastal or rural scenery, cities and towns or just get a lively introduction to life in Ulster I will design the tour to match your time and interests. I have level 4 qualifications in both Tour guiding and Hill Walking (Level 4) so you are in safe hands for your visit to Northern Ireland. I am a committee member of Tour Guides NI (TGNI) and work with my fellow guides to deliver the best of Northern Ireland to our visitors I really love to create experiences for my guests based on their choices so the more details you give me of your preferences to better we can make your visit. My Tours can take you back to the mists of time as we explore the earliest settlers on the Island. We can explore the changing history of these Island down through the ages from Celts, Vikings, Anglo-Normans, Plantations, invasions and then the impact of Famine and the Industrial Revolution. Belfast was transformed from a smelly town with 20, 000 inhabitants in the year 1800 to become the jewel in the British empire and one of the richest cities in the world in 1900 as our Linen and Shipbuilding skills lead the world with their innovation and technical skills. Our tours explore the people and places who transformed our society and also the humble lives of the workers who helped create this transformation. We can create experiences from 2 hours to as long as you have available. Our Cavehill Walking tours are a brilliant way to be introduced to Belfast. Our walking tour visits Belfast Castle and takes a narrow pathway to the Peak where we visit a Stone Age cairn and take in views across to Scotland and across most of Northern Ireland. Our Coastal Eco tours make use of local Rail to visit the Norman town of Carrickfergus or the ancient Abbey town of Bangor. Our History of Linen Tours will provide our guests with a fascinating insight into an industry that changed the face of Belfast. A bespoke tour which explores the many connections between Ulster and the US and Canada following the emigration of Ulster-Scots from Ireland to the US during the 18 th and 19 th Century. Starting with a visit to the Ulster-Scots museum your tour will take in Belfast City and then drive along the Antrim Coast in our private licenced Saloon car. Along the way we will learn of the close links between Ulster and Scotland from the ancient kingdom of Dalriada in the 5 th Century. Walk on the Ulster Appalachian way as you follow the rock formation from the US to Ulster. Find you family roots across the townlands of Ulster Learn how the Ulster emigrants impacted the Declaration of Independence and the many US presidents of Ulster descent. As an alternative we can travel west and visit the Ulster American Folk Park in Oragh and the onwards to the City of Derry/Londonderry. This is your bespoke tour. It can be mostly driven and exploring historic links or a hike across our ancient forests, hills and coast.
This is a guided tour using your car/ hire car. Your guide is available to drive your hire car , subject to insurance, and can facilitate the hire or arrange a taxi for the trip. Meet in Belfast or elsewhere. Visit the Ulster-Scots Museum. Possible visits to Belfast City Hall and Belfast Harbour Commissioners office with its Titanic table. Possible visit to the Folk Museum on the shores of Belfast Lough Drive along the shores of Belfast Lough to Larne and the start of the Ulster Appalachian Way Your tour can then include either a hike through the Glens of Antrim or a drive along the coast with stops at Glenarm, Carnlough, Bushmills. Optional . . . Its your day trip . . . is a trip to Bushmills Whiskey distillers or the Giants Causeway. Derry Walls tour or Ulster American Folk Park.
