Hi and a big welcome to our home Northern Ireland. I am Rodney and I would be delighted to show you around Northern Ireland. We have spectacular scenery, the rich culture in our Towns and Cities and lots of great places to visit and experiences to enjoy. I have a real passion for the History of Ireland I love telling the stories of our people and their lives. I love travelling around the world and appreciate the welcome I have experienced in so many countries and the fun enjoyed meeting locals and sharing in their lives. In my tours I like to share this welcome with our visitors. My walking and driven tours will allow you to experience and explore Northern Ireland through the eyes of a local. If you are interested in history, beautiful coastal or rural scenery, cities and towns or just get a lively introduction to life in Ulster I will design the tour to match your time and interests. I have level 4 qualifications in both Tour guiding and Hill Walking (Level 4) so you are in safe hands for your visit to Northern Ireland. I am a committee member of Tour Guides NI (TGNI) and work with my fellow guides to deliver the best of Northern Ireland to our visitors I really love to create experiences for my guests based on their choices so the more details you give me of your preferences to better we can make your visit. My Tours can take you back to the mists of time as we explore the earliest settlers on the Island. We can explore the changing history of these Island down through the ages from Celts, Vikings, Anglo-Normans, Plantations, invasions and then the impact of Famine and the Industrial Revolution. Belfast was transformed from a smelly town with 20, 000 inhabitants in the year 1800 to become the jewel in the British empire and one of the richest cities in the world in 1900 as our Linen and Shipbuilding skills lead the world with their innovation and technical skills. Our tours explore the people and places who transformed our society and also the humble lives of the workers who helped create this transformation. We can create experiences from 2 hours to as long as you have available. Our Cavehill Walking tours are a brilliant way to be introduced to Belfast. Our walking tour visits Belfast Castle and takes a narrow pathway to the Peak where we visit a Stone Age cairn and take in views across to Scotland and across most of Northern Ireland. Our Coastal Eco tours make use of local Rail to visit the Norman town of Carrickfergus or the ancient Abbey town of Bangor. Our History of Linen Tours will provide our guests with a fascinating insight into an industry that changed the face of Belfast. Begin the tour with a walk to the Peace Wall where we discuss the events prior to and during the 30 years of violence in our City between 1969 - 1998 and how society has been transformed since the signing of the Good Friday agreement and Power Sharing between our two communities. We return to the City centre and visit the landmarks that make up the beautiful city of today. Learn about events since 1613 when Belfast became a small town. Once the heart of the industrial revolution Belfast's shipbuilding legacy saw the creation of the Titanic, a ship that shaped Belfast’s global reputation. We learn about our Linen Industry once central to the city’s trade. Walking through cobbled streets, we connect with the city’s past and visit historic pubs adorned with murals narrating Belfast’s turbulent history and Church the were a central part of our emerging communities. The tour concludes at the majestic City Hall, symbolizing Belfast’s transformation from an industrial hub to a vibrant, modern city.
