Life is a journey but unless you've visited Thailand. . . it's not complete. Hello and Sawadee, my name is Tommy and I've been a Thai tour guide for over a decade now. Probably I will be a guide for a decade more because my job is my passion in life! Previous to my life as a Thai guide I was a marketing manager for a life insurance company in Thailand. But I didn't stick with that and became a Thai guide and I haven't looked back since. What I love most about my job is that I get a chance to meet people from all over the world and make friends with them. Second is that I get a chance to share my love for Thai food. So as you will see in my tours page, I have a special private food tour for Thai food lovers as well. But of course next to the food I know my way around all the historical sites in Bangkok and Thailand of which I am very proud to share. I also know many hidden secret markets, shrines, backstreets and undiscovered cultural places in the city. It always excites me a lot when I discover a new hidden gem in the city or at the countryside. During my time as a freelance guide for a high-end travel company in South East Asia, I have been their event planner for special occasions. This specialized company send me out frequently with managers from overseas travel companies on inspection trips and to set out new itineraries for these travel companies. The company awarded me with an Excellent Guide Award for the year 2013. In the last few years I have been to the United States, Europe and of course many Asian countries. I hope my travels will bring me to many new destinations in the future. I am looking forward to spend one or more amazing days with you as my guests in Bangkok. On this fun packed day I'll meet you at your hotel in the city and together we'll visit the places that you wish to visit. We will get on busses, the river express boat, on a tuk tuk or whatever means of transport is the best at that time. This way you can see Bangkok like a local and discover that things get hectic around town. So this tour is only for people with loads of energy and who can stand the heat. While wandering along the ancient temples and Grand Palace grounds I'll introduce the history of Thailand and what makes Thai people Thai. Visiting a local fresh market always entices travelers and you will taste many of the ingredients seen there at one of the delicious local restaurants where you will enjoy some of Thailands best food. If you're up to it you can make a fun ride in a tuk tuk or escape the heat while riding a longtail boat. So if you're ready for an adventure, it start with this tour!
Our day with Tommy in Bangkok was the best day ever! He was prompt, knowledgeable, kind and funny. We saw the city highlights in a way that only a local can show you. He knows the history, exactly where to get the best photograph, where to get a tuk tuk and the schedule for the boat. We saw temples, Thai dance, museums, Chinatown, had the best pad Thai on the street and a drink by the river. Book with Tommy if he is available!!
I booked three days with Tom for my Bangkok trip. First day we traveled around the city by tuk tuk, taxi and public transport. It is best way to experience the city. It was a great way to get to know the city. The next two days we left the city for Autthaya and various markets. Got a good flavor of local life. Tom was easy going, flexible and had is covered. Always felt safe and informed.
We had a wonderful day with Tommy who took us to see and enjoy the highlights of Bangkok. Tommy is knowledgeable, flexible, easy going, and all around fun. We went on the MRT, boat ride, Tuk tuk, and BTS to see Bangkok. I had a crash course in Thailand history as well as current events. Enjoyed local foods. Tommy will customized the tour to suit your needs. It was my first time in BKK so I left it up to Tommy to show me around. I had such a memorable time. HIGHLY recommend. This tour did not disappoint! Tommy was prompt, knowledgable, enthusiastic & friendly. He was very empathetic of our age, (all over 70) & limitations. (heat & hampered long distance walking.) He made sure that we saw a lot, were kept hydrated & comfortable. He took us on the underground, tuk tuks, boats, trams & van. They were all perfect. We saw so much & enjoyed it all!! We were thrilled with a Thai theater production & the local lunch that he treated us to. Then topped it off, with a parting gift!
We had a wonderful experience on our day tour of Bangkok with Tommy. He is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and we enjoyed getting to know him and the city. We learned, saw, tasted and experienced things that would not have been possible without his expertise to lead us!
We have used ToursByLocals before but Tommy was the best hands down. I don't even know where to start. Just the nicest guy you will ever meet. It's like having a new best friend in Bangkok. He did so much more for us besides giving us an amazing tour. We ended up buying a fairly heavy souvenir and he offered to bring to the airport 2 weeks later after we finished a group tour. He also took us out for a "night on the town" which was separate from our tour. We saw the "underbelly" of Bangkok. BEST!
