Day Excursion from Bern to Mürren including a village walking tour

Two hour walking tour tracing the history of the village from its first settlement to modern times. Enjoy the story of the first visits by tourists and winter sports development in the birth place of skiing. Explore the chocolate box beauty of the architectural buildings from the sixteenth to twentieth century.

Meet in Bern and purchase transport tickets. Board the train to Interlaken which takes one hour. Transfer to the regional train to Lauterbrunnen. The twenty minute journey follows the gorge formed by glaciers and the glacial meltwater of the Weisse Lutschine river with dramatic vertical rock walls. Mürren is not accessible by car and we will take the cable car to Grütschalp where we will transfer to the mountain railway with panoramic views of the iconic trio of mountains - Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau which takes half an hour. The walking tour traces the history of the village and explores the streets focussing on the architecture and the stories behind its development with an optional refreshment pause at a local inn or cafe. Return to Bern by train in approximately two hours. Alternatively I can pick up and drop off by car to drive to the Lauterbrunnen valley and takes approximately one hour.
