🌏 Welcome to Switzerland ! Based near Bern, I am a local medievalist art historian and archaeologist with broad cultural interests and over 30 years of guiding experience. I started guiding for Swiss, French and Spanish universities, museums and international congresses in 1994, then entered the tourism field in 2018 and became a licensed guide in Bern … and an official smile dispenser! ✨I am passionate about heritage: my tours are built on over 20 years of scientific research and publications in international peer-reviewed journals and exhibition catalogues. I love my job, because it gives me the opportunity to bring history to life for others. Guiding visitors through monuments, landscapes and traditions allows them to experience heritage as a living expression of the people who created it — as a three-dimensional illustration of history. I hope you leave not only with beautiful images, but also with a deeper connection to the places you have discovered. And in my opinion, this is possible only if knowledge is shared in an accessible, lively and fascinating way. A memorable journey is not only about what you see, but also about how you experience it. Every traveler is different. Whether you are interested in history and architecture, Swiss craftsmanship, mountain landscapes, roaring waterfalls or Alpine adventures, I create flexible itineraries designed around your expectations and pace, balancing sightseeing, stories, relax, and the simple pleasure of enjoying the moment. My goal is that you make meaningful discoveries and create unforgettable memories. 👉 Are you ready to uncover the Switzerland that most visitors never get to see? Pack your curiosity, I’ll take care of the rest. See you soon in Switzerland ! 📌 Qualifications: • City Guide Certificate, Bern Tourist Office • PhD in Art History, University of Lausanne • MA in Art History, University of Poitiers • MA in Archaeology, Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology, Rome • MA in Humanities, University of Geneva I am not a driver, but if you need one I can arrange a chauffeur for you.

This tour opens wide the doors to the Middle Ages. Led in a clear and accessible way by a specialist in medieval archaeology and art history, this tour combines perspectives to reveal one of Europe’s most deliberate capital constructions. From the geological river setting to the archaeological layers that shaped Bern, from bear symbolism to the bears swimming in the river, from the arcaded streets to the Zytglogge clock tower and from the hidden Gothic gems to the grand cathedral, you discover a medieval Alpine culture translating Roman political language into a bold Swiss idiom. Step by step, the present fades around you, and you begin to notice how medieval everyday life is organized, how space is being controlled, how authority is being displayed, and how a capital identity is being built over centuries. This tour will change the way you see Bern and will stay with you as you continue to explore other Swiss or European cities. We are now heading back in time. Are you in ?
We begin with Bern's story in 1191 at the Bear Pit, site of its foundation, before entering the city shaped by its remarkable medieval water system and identity symbols. We visit the city hall (1420) and the cathedral terrasse overlooking the river, where we learn key and witty stories about medieval Bern, before entering the cathedral’s late Gothic splendors — a spectacular display of stone, color and light reflecting Bern’s civic identity around 1480. Right on the hour, we reach the Zytglogge (1191/1405) to witness its exceptional clock show, then visit the remarkable architecture and frescoes of the French Church, Bern’s oldest church (a. 1300). Continuing along the arcaded streets, we pass Prison Tower and reach Federal Square, and conclude the tour with panoramic views of the Alps from the rear terrace, linking medieval Bern to the capital of modern Switzerland. This tour can be adapted. Please note that the French Church is closed on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
