🌏 Welcome to Switzerland ! I am Natacha, an Italo-Swiss-Armenian archaeologist and art historian based in Bern and specialized in medieval towns, multiculturalism and travels ! I started guiding for Swiss, French and Spanish universities, museums and international congresses in 1994. After graduating in medieval art history and archaeology in Geneva, Rome, Poitiers, and Lausanne, I started guiding while looking for my first position in my field and discovered another passion: helping travelers enjoy monuments, landscapes and traditions as three-dimensional expressions of history. So I became a licensed guide in Bern … and an official smile dispenser ! Since five years I merge academic approach and touristic guiding and apply my knowledge of medieval art and city’s urbanism also to modern architecture and natural landscapes. ✨ Whether you are fascinated by history, adventure, or nature and relaxed sightseeing, I design flexible tours tailored to your pace, interests and expectations. From medieval towns, hidden monasteries and watchmaking traditions to peaceful islands and scenic helicopter flights above the Alps, every itinerary is created to offer insightful and memorable experiences. My approach goes beyond sightseeing. Together, we explore not only what we see, but also why it was made, how it worked and what it reveals about Swiss history and culture, past and present. Each tour is designed to bring to light what usually goes unnoticed and help you connect more deeply with the places you visit. 📌 Qualifications: • City Guide Certificate, Bern Tourist Office • PhD in Art History, University of Lausanne • MA in Art History, University of Poitiers • MA in Archaeology, Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology, Rome • MA in Humanities, University of Geneva 👉 Are you ready to uncover the Switzerland that most visitors never get to see? Pack your curiosity, I’ll take care of the rest. See you soon in Switzerland !

Overview of your Bern tour

This tour opens wide the doors to the Middle Ages. Led in a clear and accessible way by a specialist in medieval art history and archaeology, this tour combines perspectives to reveal one of Europe’s most deliberately constructed capitals. From the geological river setting to the archaeological layers that shaped Bern, from bear symbolism to the bears swimming in the river, from the arcaded streets to the Zytglogge clock tower and from the hidden Gothic gems to the grand cathedral, you discover a medieval Alpine culture translating Roman political language into a bold Swiss idiom. Step by step, the present fades around you, and you begin to notice how medieval everyday life is organized, how space is being controlled, how authority is being displayed, and how a capital identity is being built over centuries. This tour will change the way you see Bern and will stay with you as you continue to explore other Swiss or European cities. We are now heading back in time. Are you in ?

Your Bern tour itinerary

From the medieval city walls beneath the railway station, we enter the main street with its world-famous arcades. After Prison Tower, we admire the Federal Palace and the Alpine panorama from the rear terrace. Right on the hour, we will reach the iconic Zytglogge and its exceptional clock show. We then visit a Dominican monastery’s interior architecture and frescoes, and the cathedral’s late Gothic splendors — a spectacular display of stone, color and light reflecting Bern’s civic identity in the 15th century. On the cathedral terrasse, we enjoy panoramic views over the river and learn key and witty stories about medieval Bern. The tour ends at the beginning of Bern’s history, in 1191, with the city’s foundation at Nydegg, and at Bear Park, where we encounter Bern’s earliest symbol in its living form.
