🌏 Welcome to Switzerland ! Based near Bern, I am a local medievalist art historian and archaeologist with broad cultural interests and over 30 years of guiding experience. I started guiding for Swiss, French and Spanish universities, museums and international congresses in 1994, then entered the tourism field in 2018 and became a licensed guide in Bern … and an official smile dispenser! ✨I am passionate about heritage: my tours are built on over 20 years of scientific research and publications in international peer-reviewed journals and exhibition catalogues. I love my job, because it gives me the opportunity to bring history to life for others. Guiding visitors through monuments, landscapes and traditions allows them to experience heritage as a living expression of the people who created it — as a three-dimensional illustration of history. I hope you leave not only with beautiful images, but also with a deeper connection to the places you have discovered. And in my opinion, this is possible only if knowledge is shared in an accessible, lively and fascinating way. A memorable journey is not only about what you see, but also about how you experience it. Every traveler is different. Whether you are interested in history and architecture, Swiss craftsmanship, mountain landscapes, roaring waterfalls or Alpine adventures, I create flexible itineraries designed around your expectations and pace, balancing sightseeing, stories, relax, and the simple pleasure of enjoying the moment. My goal is that you make meaningful discoveries and create unforgettable memories. 👉 Are you ready to uncover the Switzerland that most visitors never get to see? Pack your curiosity, I’ll take care of the rest. See you soon in Switzerland ! 📌 Qualifications: • City Guide Certificate, Bern Tourist Office • PhD in Art History, University of Lausanne • MA in Art History, University of Poitiers • MA in Archaeology, Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology, Rome • MA in Humanities, University of Geneva I am not a driver, but if you need one I can arrange a chauffeur for you.

Beneath its appearance of cute little Swiss town, Bern reveals a historical depth and a deliberate urban vision unmatched by most Swiss cities. This tour invites you to interweave perspectives and deepen your connection with the city’s history and wider geographical setting to uncover what truly earned Bern its UNESCO status. We will approach the city’s highlights and secret paths from a deep historical, geological and architectural perspective. We will trace Bern’s roots back to the most illustrious archetypes of Western civilization. And we will explore underground sites and great monuments off the beaten paths, that reveal an engineering and a degree of intellectual refinement quite unusual for a historically warlike city like Bern. Our tower climb to the cathedral will not only be a contemplative pause with panoramic views. We will take this exclusive opportunity to study and uncover even more thoroughly the city’s economic and political strategies that have led to the emergence of a capital city.
We start this time-travel tour at the city walls under the train station then take the main arcaded street until the Prison Tower. We then admire Federal Square’s grand manifesto of Swiss politics and, weather permitting, an Alpine views from the rear terrasse. Down main street again, we reach the Zytglogge for the hourly strike and take a moment to discover the genius behind this complex mechanism. We then reach the cathedral and its late gothic wonders: an ingenious celebration of Bern’s power before and after the Reformation. On top of the tower, we enjoy the most breathtaking panoramic view over Bern and its surroundings, then stop for a drink on the terrace and enjoy an overlooking view on the turquoise-green river Aare. We then dive deep into the political rituals and symbols of Bern, and a complex underground civic facility from around 1250. After a stop at Nydegg Church, we will end the tour at the world-famous Bear Park. This tour can be adapted. Please let me know if you have special wishes.
