Welcome to Granada! My name is Guillermo and I'm an Official Tour Guide in this unique town. After I finished my degree in Tourism in 2008, I worked in a couple of tourist information offices and also as a receptionist in three different hotels. But finally in 2013, I focused on my dream, to become to be a tour guide and I'm cheerful with my decision. Costumer-oriented work showing Granada's heritage is a privilege and a gift that I transmit with passion and dedication. Luckily, I was born and raised in Granada and I'm blessed to have my job where I've been living during my entire live. Concretely I've spent part of my childhood in the Albayzín and I think that's a huge advantage for me, because I've been learning how to guide in Granada because of my own experiences. After guiding for the last 12 years and collaborating with Tours By Locals since 2017, each tour that I can guide is a new opportunity to meet interesting people that decided to visit our lovely city. When I have some free time I love travelling abroad, visiting new countries, for the moment 38 and counting. In my opinion, to be a tour guide is much more than walking and talking, it's about sharing knowledge and experiences, if you really enjoy what you do, everything is easier, that's my philosophy. If the typical tour is NOT in your plans, then I'll be your local tour guide. - Degree in Tourism (Higher School of Tourism Alhamar de Granada - Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia UNED) - Official Tour Guide in Andalusia (Andalusian Government) - Junta de Andalucía - Languages Credentials in English (Cambridge University Press & Assessment) and in Italian (Società Dante Alighieri) I am a licensed guide, and have no restrictions.

If there are two special quarters, they are The Albayzín and The Sacromonte. The first one, which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site, is considered to be the most ancient part of Granada, it was founded one thousand years ago and it's quite peculiar, because of its architecture and location, on the top of a hill from where is possible to see Granada and The Alhambra. Most of Muslim population used to live in this part of the city for centuries, it conserves amazing cobblestone streets and gorgeous houses called Cármenes, with me, we'll discover the real meaning of this incredible constructions. The second quarter is called Sacromonte, where I will explain you why tradition, passion and music are perfectly connected. It is called The Gypsy Quarter, because most of the population came centuries ago from far territories, to repopulate part of the city. It out stands because of their typical cave houses and lovely pathways around the hill, probably the best and less known views are hidden here.
- The Tour starts from San Cristóbal (Saint Christopher View Point). - We go to San Nicolás (Saint Nicholas View Point), visiting the quarter which is called Albayzín and discovering the most important parts of it, but not following the common route, I prefer to show you the city as the local person that I am. - We move to the Gypsy Quarter, and we see a stunning panoramic while we discover the most unexpected architecture that we can find in our city. - We go down the hill direction to the city center, where we finish our tour in Plaza Nueva. - During the visit I leave free for having a break, the tour lasts over three hours including the stop. This is a suggested itinerary, please let me know and I can create a customized tour for you. - I recommend to wear comfortable shoes, because we walk on red clay pathways, cobble-stone floors and also asphalt, even we find some steps during the visit but are not so difficult.
