Welcome to Granada! My name is Guillermo and I'm an Official Tour Guide in this unique town. After I finished my degree in Tourism in 2008, I worked in a couple of tourist information offices and also as a receptionist in three different hotels. But finally in 2013, I focused on my dream, to become to be a tour guide and I'm cheerful with my decision. Costumer-oriented work showing Granada's heritage is a privilege and a gift that I transmit with passion and dedication. Luckily, I was born and raised in Granada and I'm blessed to have my job where I've been living during my entire live. Concretely I've spent part of my childhood in the Albayzín and I think that's a huge advantage for me, because I've been learning how to guide in Granada because of my own experiences. After guiding for the last 12 years and collaborating with Tours By Locals since 2017, each tour that I can guide is a new opportunity to meet interesting people that decided to visit our lovely city. When I have some free time I love travelling abroad, visiting new countries, for the moment 38 and counting. In my opinion, to be a tour guide is much more than walking and talking, it's about sharing knowledge and experiences, if you really enjoy what you do, everything is easier, that's my philosophy. Let me take you to discover Granada, one of the most important cities in Europe during the Middle Ages, founded in 1013 by the Ziriids, and controlled for centuries by the Nasrids. Thousands of people living in a chosen place where Muslims, Jews and Christians used to coexist. Three main areas, The Albayzín, where everything started, considered to be the former Muslim city of Granada, then the Realejo, which is the place where the Jewish People lived, located under the Alhambra and finally the City Center, a place where is possible to find most of the Catholic legacy of Granada. The Albayzín is a very important quarter for me, I've spent part of my childhood here, so let me take you to figure out all the misteries and secrets of this special place, we'll visit the best viewpoints avoiding the crowds and we'll walk down on our way to the city center, getting lost through the history and time.
Guillermo was a really fantastic tour guide! He took my husband, my brother and my two kiddos (9, 11) on a Granada City Tour our first full day in Granada. He explained the history of the city with an extra eye to how the religion of the ruling party (at whatever time) impacted architecture, development of the town, etc. He made sure to take us to several great lookouts and was patient with my tired kiddos when they need a popsicle break. :) Thank you Guillermo!!
We spent a lovely Sunday morning touring Granada with Guillermo. He is an engaging and informative guide and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the city with him. We appreciated the personal touches he included in the tour, such as fantastic spots for pictures and restaurant recommendations. Wow wow wow! Guillermo was an AWESOME guide! Super intelligent and kind. He exudes love for Granada and Spain. He knows art, history architecture, languages, food, and people. Every element is laid out but yet flexible to change if our mood changed. He introduced us to this fabulous city and a way that no guidebook or internet could! He moved us effortlessly thru history and the distinct quarters of the city. Always a hidden gem to be discovered! Recommend him 1000/1000! Perfect English and Italian too!!!
We got a great overview of Granada with Guillermo. He's knowledgeable, personable, kind and generous person. We were shown all the highlights of the fascinating Granada as well as somethings that only a local could know. He enjoyed our time with him very much.

Guillermo is a Granada native, and his enthusiasm for its history is evident. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour, and saw several things / visited many places that we would not have found on our own.
- I start at the fountain in the middle of Plaza Nueva. - I make a historical introduction. - I take a taxi to go to the highest point of the Albayzín, where little by little we start to walk down on our way to the city center, getting lost through the history and time, before visiting the Christian area. - I stop in the former Jewish Quarter called Realejo. This is a suggested itinerary, please let me know and I can create a customized tour for you. - During the visit I leave some free time for having a break, the tour lasts over three hours including the stop. I recommend to wear comfortable shoes, because we walk on red clay pathways, cobble-stone floors and also asphalt. Even we find some steps and slopes during the visit, but not so complicated.
