Hello, I'm Jun. I have been working as an English tour guide since 2013. Before I became a tour guide, I was a reporter of a magazine. Working as a reporter, I had the chance to travel abroad and to communicate with people from different countries, and this helped me to become a tour guide. I was born and raised in Seoul. Seoul has been the capital city of Korea over 600years. The history goes back to 1392, when new dynasty named Chosun was established. When they designed the new city, they considered the location of the mountains as an important factor. So when you see the Gyeongbokgung palace, you must see surrounding mountains as a whole picture. Behind Gyeonbokgung palace, you will see the Blue House, which used to be the presidential residence. After we covered two places, we can understand overall history of Korea. There are also lots of attractions nearby including very authentic Korean Barbeque restaurant. Tour will end at the street called Insadong or Ikseondong. The itinerary is customizable, your suggestions are always welcome.
Excellent tour. On the day of our tour, it was pouring rain, and Jun did an outstanding jib of adjusting our itinerary to include more museums so we were indoors as it rained and then taking us to the Changdeokgung Palace and Huwon garden during a break in the rain. The garden after the rain with so much flowing water was particularly beautiful.
Junwon is a very engaging, relaxed and friendly guide. He is also very flexible and happy to talk about any aspect of Korean life. As a result we got an insight into this wonderful country that you simply would not get if you were just part of much larger group. We particularly loved the Korean Folk museum where Junwon explained relevance of the various artefacts and traditions into everyday Korean life.

Juwan and our Essence of Seoul tour during our 10-hour layover in Seoul was wonderful. Juwan was at the airport when our flight arrived and quickly escorted the 4 of us to his spacious and immaculate vehicle. We are inquisitive travelers and he was informative about the area and patient with our many questions. The sites we visited were wonderful and chosen to give us a quick sampling of all that was South Korea. Juwan was professional and courteous. A joy to have as our guide. I highly recommend!
