Hello and welcome to South Korea! I joined ToursByLocals in 2024 and was honored with a 2026 Golden Guide Award for my DMZ tours delivering the most well-structured and immersive experiences during a single day. Before becoming a tour guide, I traveled extensively around the world and within Korea. Prior to this, I spent 15 years working for multinational corporations. I also received my MS degree from a renowned university in the United States. I love not only traveling, but hiking, camping, fishing, skiing, and photography. Seoul is huge but it is a unique modern city where the new and the old exist in harmony. Experience the most popular places in Seoul in a half day. Kyungbokgung Palace is the main palace and it is always at the top of the list for the tourists. Its Guard Changing Ceremony vividly shows the 15th century in Korea. The Blue House is the presidential office opened to public only 3 years ago. Walk through the fine places where modern history was made. Namdaemun market is the biggest local market and a good place to feel the daily life in Korea. You can choose another market as well. This tour can be customized to fit your needs such as Hanbok Rental, a visit to Bukchon Hanok village, Insadong, Myeongdong, Seoul N(Namsan) Tower and so on.
Unsuk was a mindful guide and never ceased to ensure that we were comfortable with the extreme heat of the day. He also allowed us to change the itinerary by bringing us to a place of great interest to us, the Seosomun Shrine History Museum...it was the best way to end the tour. Thank you so much Unsuk.
Oliver is extremely knowledgeable about the city/country and informed about the world and history. His English is excellent, having studied in the US and worked for English speaking companies as an engineer. He also has a good sense of humour. Our tour day was very cold and rainy and he adapted to our wet feet and catered to our interests while ensuring we saw major highlights. We highly highly recommend Oliver and this tour. 2 Canadians.
Oliver did an excellent job. He was waiting for us when we got off the ship. His van was clean, comfortable and he provided water. He was knowledgeable about the sights, Korea and its history. He was flexible and did an admirable job with some very heavy traffic in Seoul. His English was also very good. We would recommend him for tours in this part of S. Korea.
We had a half day tour of Seoul with Oliver.He was excellent, even though he was battling heavy traffic all afternoon, due to protesters.Oliver has a great knowledge of Seoul and is a pleasure to be with.Highly recommended.
Oliver is the best tour guide. He is excellent, knows history and speaks perfect English. He is very detail oriented and knows Korea well. He doesn’t rush and has a great deal of patience and enjoys showing us sights and explains.
We are a party of 6 elderly but generally fit folks except for a 90 yr old who may occasionally need to use her wheelchair. Oliver was perfect for us! He arranged a tour tailored to our needs and even helped with the wheelchair! He drove us in his new Hyundai Staria which was most comfortable and gave us interesting narrations of the places we visited!
