Mt. Seorak is a mountain famous for its many strange rocks. In particular, if you get to the observatory called Gwongeumseong Fortress, you can see these rocks as well as the East Sea far away. Taking a cable car to reach Gwongeumseong Fortress, you can see the dinosaur ridge of strangely shaped rocks that take your breath away and the East Sea in the distance at a glance. Dinosaur Ridge refers to the ridge from Madeungryeong to Sinseonam, and it was named because its shape looks as powerful and exhilarating as a dinosaur soaring. After the Fortress tour, you can visit Sinheungsa Temple built by Jajang in the name of Hyangseongsa Temple in the Silla Dynasty (A. D 652), but around 1644, three monks rebuilt a temple under Seonseonsa Temple, which is today's Shinheungsa Temple. Going to the East, you will face Yeonggeumjeong Pavilion on a beach. You will marvel at the power of the very dynamic waves there. And you will also pass by a fish market.
This was a wonderful tour! Our very pleasant and knowledgeable guide had everything efficiently planned for this road trip to maximize our experience. We travelled through beautiful wooded countryside to the rocky cliffs of Seoraksan Park. It’s a steep but not lengthy climb to breathtaking views of the mountains and the coastline. Well worth the time!
This tour was worth the trip outside of Seoul. The mountains were beautiful, and we had a fun ride up on the cable car. Benny was very knowledgeable and gave us a great tour of the market below and the pier he brought us to had great views. This was a wonderful trip to get out of the hustle and bustle of Seoul! Wow! Amazing snow capped mountain view which was breathtaking. Snow was a bonus! The trip included a visit to Sockcho which was so calm and peaceful- often mentioned as a place to go to relax in many Korean dramas. Will book a tour with Benny if we travel this way again.
Benny is a fantastic guide, with a good command of English. He was already waiting outside our hotel before the arranged pick up time. He is very knowledgeable and we have gained a great insight into Korean cultures, politics and food.
