As a culture/nature tourist guide, I do not simply present facts/figures/attractions to my tourists - I tell a story and try to bring South African culture, society and nature alive to them! I was honoured to be named the Lilizela Awards 2016 Culture Guide of the Year for KwaZulu-Natal Province and was the first runner-up for the Lilizela Awards 2016 Culture Guide of the Year for South Africa. My passion for tourism was ignited from an early age, when as a young boy I would often accompany my father (also a tourist guide) on his many travels throughout South Africa. This passion has evolved over the past 30 years, as I have worked in the industry on a more professional level as a tour manager for Gate 1 Travel and Collette Tours in South Africa/Botswana/Zimbabwe, as well as a national tourist guide/coach driver, tour manager and route planner for major South African tour operators (handling their national tours for SAGA, Travelsphere, Globus, Cosmos Archers and Titan). I also handled many of their contracts with local and international VIPs. In addition to my day tours in Durban and the KwaZulu-Natal Province, I am also very willing to undertake overnight stays to any national South African tourist destination, including Swaziland and Lesotho. I am able to manage any group size, nationality and age. Winner of the South African Lilizela Awards 2016 Culture Guide of the Year for KwaZulu-Natal Province; First Runner-up for the South African Lilizela Awards 2016 Culture Guide of the Year for South Africa; CASTHETA National Tourism (Level 4) Certificate; Drum Beat Academy National Guide (Culture/Nature) Certificate; Chairman of the e-Thekwini Regional Tourist Guides Association and frequent observer at committee meetings of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Tourist Guides' Association; Former Chairman of the SODURBA Community Tourism Organisation; Delegate/route advisor for the East3Route expedition to KwaZulu-Natal Province/ Mozambique/Swaziland from 2012 to 2014; Former independent assessor on the SATOUR Guide Evaluation Panel.

Overview of your Durban tour

A wonderful way to discover the city of Durban! Learn about the city's history, industry, harbour (the busiest in Africa!), beach culture and the "Golden Mile", the influence of the Indian people, as well as about every-day life in a city that has evolved from a family holiday destination to hosting some of the world's most important conferences and dignatories. Highlights of the tour include: bargaining for curios at the bustling Victoria Street ("Indian") Market, exploring the tranquil Durban Botanic Gardens and an orientation of the CDB to view the colonial buildings. We'll also see the court house where Mahatma Gandhi practised law and the famous City Hall, which is an almost identical replica of the one situated in Belfast. See the awesome Moses Mobhida Soccer Stadium - built for the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Why not try the bungee jump from the Stadium towers or a ride up the sky car! This tour is also ideal for cruise passengers docked at Durban Harbour.
