The Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve is a 2. 5 hour dive from Durban or 1. 5 hours from Richards Bay and is Africa's oldest proclaimed game reserve. Situated in the very heart of Zululand, the traditional home to the Zulu people, the reserve is world famous for it's conservation efforts. The reserve is home not only to the Big-5, but also to other endangered species like the African Painted Wild Dog. And while the Big-5 is always exciting to try and find, the Small-5 can be just as fun and rewarding to find! We start early at 6:30am and along the way I'll chat to guests about the history of Durban, as well as the history of the Zulu nation; I'll also answer any questions guests might have. We'll spent the day in the game reserve stopping at one of two restaurants in the game reserve. We'll leave the reserve only after 3pm, and so arrive back in Durban at approximately 6:00pm.
We collect in the early morning, at 6:30am in order to get an early start to the day. We leave the park at 3pm, arriving in Durban @ 6pm. Alternatively we can start a bit later, and leave the park later in the day at 5pm (arrive Durban @ 8pm).
