Hola a Todos! I'm Diego Abud, a passionate local guide with 15 years of exploring every corner of Mexico. From bustling cities to hidden colonial gems, remote beaches to majestic mountains, I've dedicated my life trying to truly understand this incredibly, diverse and vibrant country. Twelve years ago I came to San Miguel and instantly fell in love with it. This magical city captured my heart with its perfect combination of rich culture, breathtaking architecture, deep history and world class dinning. All wrapped in one unforgettable destination. Since then, I've been trying to help our guests experience San Miguel de Allende and its surroundings, the way it deserves: deeply but easy to understand and with lots of fun. Whether you like walking the cobblestones streets of a colonial town or exploring its restaurants bite by bite, I'll guide you beyond the usual tourist spots. I'll share the stories, secrets and soul of San Miguel de Allende that only someone who truly knows and loves this place can reveal. Let me show you why San Miguel de Allende isn't just another destination but the best city in the world to visit!

Overview of your San Miguel De Allende tour

Come with me to explore this little charming town: Dolores Hidalgo, the birthplace of the Mexican Independence from Spain. This historical town is famous for three things: its traditional ice cream flavours that are locally elaborated (LIKE CEVICHE FLAVOR), its world class talavera pottery and its role on Mexican History. In this tour, we will learn about the Mexican Independence, explore its market where we can try some spectacular carnitas tacos and Ice cream and explore through one of the traditional pottery workshops and finally discover one of the most hidden gems in Mexico: The chapel of Atotonilco, known as the Sistine Chapel of the Americas. Immerse with me on this tour filled with history flavors and colors!

Your San Miguel De Allende tour itinerary

- First, we’ll head from San Miguel towards the city of Dolores Hidalgo, the cradle of Mexican Independence. We’ll arrive directly to the Church of our Lady of Dolores, where we’ll admire it’s beautiful baroque facade and go inside to see the incredible altars. - After the church, we’ll talk about Mexico’s independence, it’s roots, causes and effects on past and current culture. The city itself is a monument to Hidalgo (the man behind the independence movement) so murals of him and the movement decorate the city. - After that we’ll head to the main square to enjoy one of the many many ice cream flavors that the town is famous for. You can try avocado ice cream, or mole ice cream, even seafood ice cream. More easily accessible and delicious flavors are also available so don’t worry! On our way back to San Miguel, we’ll stop at Atotonilco, “The Sistine Chapel of America”, here we’ll appreciate the frescos that were painted in the 18th century, considered the highest expression of Mexican Baroque.
