One might say that I practically grew up in San Miguel Allende. It is where I learned to speak Spanish in my youth. My mother was an artist and every waking moment that I wasn't in school in Arizona, we were here! She painted and I studied Spanish at the Instituto Allende. We lived among the locals and submerged ourselves in the culture. I have seen the town grow. Progress changes everything yet San Miguel and its people have managed to preserve the essence of this treasure of a town. I have yet to meet a single person who once they have visited, hasn't returned. let me show you some of the not so well known places that still exist as they did 50 years ago, a different side of San Miguel. It's hidden treasures if you will. Thank You for taking the time to read this and regardless of where your travels take you, Happy Trails To You Betty L. I grew up in San Miguel in the 70's, my mother was an artist and I studied the language and culture. I look forward to a wonderful day with you! We will start with a "recorrido": an overview of historic centro. This is a moderate level walking tour of our magical city. Covering highlights such as the Instituto Allende, Parque Juarez, El Chorro, the Artisans market and more. We are recovering here in San Miguel, taking all safety precautions and adjusting to a new normal. One can enjoy the city at a leisure pace, enjoy the many rooftop restaurants, galleries and shops all the while feel the friendliness of the locals. San Miguel is famous for it's indigenous and religious celebrations, rich in history, culture, color and art! Fine dinning or street tacos, so you wont go hungry! I am waiting for you:)

Betty was a wonderful tour guide. She’s very knowledgeable about the area, having lived in San Miguel for many years. She is a native English speaker with great stories. She also gives back to the community.
Betty is a fabulous tour guide. She took us on a deep dive into the streets of San Miguel showing us many interesting sites one would otherwise never discover let alone see on a standard tour. Her decades of living in the city allowed her to provide wonderful insight into the history and culture of this very beautiful city.
We had a great time with Betty. She's a true insider of San Miguel, and can show you places you'd never find on your own. She was a considerate and thoughtful guide. Highly recommend her.
Betty is a wonderful guide - very knowledgeable of San Miguel de Allende and the surrounding area, the history, the interesting back streets and passageways, and the local businesses. She was very generous with her time, answered all our questions and tailored the tour to our specific group. All in our group were more than pleased. Highly recommend!
Betty is simply the best! By gliding us through the San Miguel that she came to love we too left the tour enthralled with this city that oozes charm, displays community warmth, and boasts wonderful restaurants and shops. In addition to sharing the history, she offered up personal stories that brought each stop we visited to life. Thanks so much Betty! We'll be back.
Meet where is most convenient for you and/or your group within the city limits, preferably starting no later than 9:00 to fully enjoy the morning and avoid the heat. We can start at the Insituto Allende, a historic landmark, continuing through Parque Juarez, the lung of our city, up to El Chorro, where the town was founded. Over to the Artisans market and course the main square (Jardin) where our famous Parroquia, the most photographed church in Mexico stands. This is a walking tour with no pressure, our streets are cobblestone, and sidewalks can be narrow, one literally needs to stop, to smell the roses. I am happy to adjust or customize a route that includes your particular interests.
