One might say that I practically grew up in San Miguel Allende. It is where I learned to speak Spanish in my youth. My mother was an artist and every waking moment that I wasn't in school in Arizona, we were here! She painted and I studied Spanish at the Instituto Allende. We lived among the locals and submerged ourselves in the culture. I have seen the town grow. Progress changes everything yet San Miguel and its people have managed to preserve the essence of this treasure of a town. I have yet to meet a single person who once they have visited, hasn't returned. let me show you some of the not so well known places that still exist as they did 50 years ago, a different side of San Miguel. In the 1970's I lived here with my mother, she painted and I studied the language and culture. I love to share my stories from then and now. San Miguel is a vibrant artists colony filled with historical monuments, galleries, and restaurants. Many of the locals run their shops and business from their homes. On this tour I can show you some of the public areas where women wash their clothes, walk through the park where local artists display their work. There are two open air markets not to mention the numerous vegetable and flower stands all over town. I am happy to customize a tour including any of the wonderful destinations San Miguel has to offer. If you prefer galleries and fine dinning, San Miguel has many wonderful rooftop restaurants and bars. I assure you a wonderful day ! Join me:)
Betty gave our group a top knotch tour around town by sharing her vast knowledge of the area and its people. We received a wealth of information along with insights into what areas to explore on our own, the local quirks, what taxi rides should cost, what restaurants were good and even some tips for our following trip to Mexico City. Communication was timely and helpful.

Betty gave us a wonderful tour of San Miguel de Allende. She was easy to communicate with leading up to our arrival and was on time to meet us. She was knowledgeable and informative about the city and her tour was well planned. She was also very accommodating as we needed a slower pace and she never made us feel rushed. We left feeling like we got a great overview of SMA and she gave us some very good recommendations for after the tour as well. I would definitely recommend booking at least one tour with Betty if you are visiting SMA.

San Miguel de Allende should NOT be visited without a qualified guide. You do not sightsee in SMA you experience it…our TBL guide, Betty Lopez is a local who has been part of the SMA vibe for 50 + years. She speaks great English (she’s an expat)and learned fluent Spanish in San Miguel. We were on a short trip so we only had a short time with Betty but she made ever use of our time for a wonderful overview of the town, history, art and local merchants. We highly recommend Betty for an all encompassing experience of SMA.
