Hello, my name is Shanty and I've been a certified guide for 5 years. I work primarily in archaeological sites in the region where I live, although I also enjoy outdoor activities as I love nature and all the richness of this place. I come from foreign parents who arrived in Mexico more than 40 years ago. I was born and raised here, specifically in a town called Bacalar, which is very close to the port of Costa Maya. I love gastronomy and believe that my region's cuisine is some of the best in the country. Although my academic studies have been in the arts, I have always had a passion for history and the roots of our culture, and I discovered that being a guide also fills me with great satisfaction. It is a job I do with great pleasure. I am very proud of the place where I live, and sharing the richness of my country is always very special to me. I really enjoy all the stories and experiences my clients share with me, and it makes me very happy to be able to share how wonderful it is to live in this region. I'm so grateful to see that as time goes on, more and more people are interested in the riches of Mexico and its surrounding areas. It will be a pleasure to show you around and share the diversity of our surroundings!

Join me for a walk through the beautiful waters of the Laguna de los 7 Colores. I'll take you to places I love around the area where I live, and share postcard-perfect scenarios with you. The lagoon we will be visiting is a vast source of freshwater that's home to one of the oldest ecosystems on the planet, as well as fish, turtles, and migratory birds. Its crystal-clear waters are perfect for relaxing, swimming or even snorkelling. Allow me to take you through its interconnected cenotes, which are drowned caves, located all throughout the Yucatan Peninsula. I'll also tell you about the history of the Pirates' Channel. Did you know that Bacalar witnessed the struggle between pirates and the Mayans to save their territory? Contact me and let me guide you on this magical tour, filled with nature and history.
-After boarding our transportation, we'll head to the town of Bacalar, located 1 hour and 30 minutes from the port of Costa Maya. -Upon arrival, we'll board a boat equipped with life jackets for all passengers that will take us on a 2 hour tour of the Seven Colors Lagoon. -We'll then proceed to visit the Black Cenote, the Emerald Cenote, and the Cocalitos Cenote. -Before returning, we'll observe Bird Island and the Pirates Channel (and you could also swim if you'd like!). -If you get hungry, I'd be happy to take you to Mr. Taco, a local venue that sells traditional Mexican food in the center of Bacalar, very close to where we get on/off the boat. -At last, we'll return to Costa Maya.

If you're a cruise ship passenger, after disembarking your ship, you should exit the Costa Maya port toward the security area and walk towards the Mayan pyramid located there. I will be waiting for you with your name on a blackboard. If you are at a hotel, I will pick you up in the lobby.
