My name is Vladimir and I'm originally from the Mayan region of Quintana Roo, an actual descendant of Mayan rebel leaders. I grew up surrounded by the jungle, traditions, cornfields and the Mayan language. From a young age, I learned the value of our history and our land. Over the years, they have become my passion: exploring, studying and sharing the natural and cultural richness of Quintana Roo with people from all over. From Bacalar and Chetumal to Mahahual and the ancient Mayan cities, I've travelled across these places my whole life, first as a curious explorer and now as a professional guide. My mission is simple: to show you this corner of the world through the eyes of a native, so you can have an authentic, intimate and memorable experience. I look forward to welcoming you to Costa Maya to share what makes this place unique.

Join me on a private journey from Costa Maya on which we'll head inland through the southern jungle of Quintana Roo towards the Mayan ruins of Chacchoben. On this archaeological site, we’ll explore key monuments such as the Structure 24, believed to be a solar observatory, and the Great Basamento, once the political and ceremonial centre of the city. As we walk through the site, there’s always a chance to spot local wildlife like agoutis or spider monkeys, though sightings are never guaranteed. The walk includes uneven terrain and shaded jungle paths, so comfortable shoes and sun protection are recommended. If you'd like to do an extended version of this tour, we could add a visit to a beach club—simple, welcoming, and authentically Caribbean. In it, you could enjoy refreshments relaxing by the sea and even try local coastal dishes. Contact me before booking if you're interested!
•After picking you up, we'll depart on roughly an hour long drive to Chacchoben. •Along our way, I’ll share insights about the region and our history, and discuss how local life is like. •On arrival to Chacchoben, I'll lead you on an exploration of the main monuments of the site, including the Great Basamento and Structure 24. •Next, we'll reach the Service Area where you'll be able to have some time at the souvenir shop in case you'd like to take some mementos back with you. •After you've been able to browse local crafts and use the restrooms, we'll drive back to Costa Maya. There is however also the option to extend the tour a couple more hours by visiting a local beach club where you could enjoy a bite to eat and some drinks by the seaside as one final stop before returning. If you'd be interested in this extension, please contact me before booking and I'd sent you a customized version of this tour.

The vehicle we use may vary depending on availability: it would be either a Peugeot Rifter Van 2024; a Foton CSW2 Van; a Toyota Hiace Van; a Ford Transit Van, or similar models from 2020 to 2025.

I will be waiting for you just outside the Costa Maya entrance, standing on the central sidewalk with a sign displaying your name. From there, we’ll walk together to the vehicle, board, and begin our journey to Chacchoben. I could also pick you up from your hotel if you were lodged in Costa Maya.
