Kohunlich Full Day Shore Excursion from Costa Maya

Join me on an authentic journey deep into the jungle to explore Kohunlich, a unique Maya archaeological site known for its majestic Sun God mask panels and its impressive corozo palm forest, far away from mass tourism. It is one of my personal favorites in southern Quintana Roo, where ancient architecture blends beautifully with untouched nature. During our visit, with some luck we may spot birds and monkeys in the treetops that often appear along the way. Kohunlich is truly off the beaten path: there are no shops, no food stands, no phone signal, and no tourist services—only jungle, ruins, and serenity. I will be delighted to guide you there, sharing this hidden Mayan treasure with you.

-Upon meeting, I will welcome you to the Costa Maya and provide a brief overview of the route we will embark on as well as discuss recommendations before departure. -We will then begin a 2 hour long scenic drive through the southern Quintana Roo jungle. -As we travel, I will share insights about the region and about Maya culture. -Upon arriving to Kohunlich, I will lead you on an exploration of the archaeological site, discussing its history and the significance of its structures. -We'll first be visiting the Small Acropolis, a former residential complex. ·Next, we'll visit the Stelae Square, the main Plaza of the site. ·Later, we'll see the Ball Field where games were played. -We'll then see the King's Residence. -Afterwards, we'll see the Sun Temple. -Finally, we'll begin the drive back to the port, so just relax and enjoy the scenery or feel free to ask additional questions along the way. Our arrival will always be scheduled with more than enough time to comfortably board back onto your ship.
