Hello, my name is Shanty and I've been a certified guide for 5 years. I work primarily in archaeological sites in the region where I live, although I also enjoy outdoor activities as I love nature and all the richness of this place. I come from foreign parents who arrived in Mexico more than 40 years ago. I was born and raised here, specifically in a town called Bacalar, which is very close to the port of Costa Maya. I love gastronomy and believe that my region's cuisine is some of the best in the country. Although my academic studies have been in the arts, I have always had a passion for history and the roots of our culture, and I discovered that being a guide also fills me with great satisfaction. The perfect adventure awaits. Imagine learning about the Mayan culture and its secrets, and also enjoying the views & refreshing waters of the Seven Colours Lagoon. On this tour, we'll visit the Mayan temples of Chacchoben, where I'll tell you about this civilization's traditions as we enjoy the natural scenery surrounding us. But besides that, just 30 minutes away from these temples, the Seven Colors Lagoon awaits, located in the town of Bacalar. We'll be visiting a beach club at the lagoon, so if you get hungry you'll be able to enjoy local options such a burritos, guacamole & fish tacos. Besides enjoying its crystal clear waters, I'll also give you relevant historical context about the area, and talk about its wildlife. You might see catfish or snails called chiquitas if you get in! Your Costa Maya tour itinerary
-After meeting, we'll board the shuttle that will take us on an approximate hour long ride to Chacchobén. -Once we get there, we will tour the ceremonial temples and climb the large base where the "Twins" structures are located. -Next, we will explore the "Trails" that served as a trading platform for the city. -After exploring Chacchoben, we will head to the town of Bacalar which is just half an hour away. -There, we will stop at a spot on the shore of the Laguna de los Siete Colores where you could taste local food and enjoy the view. If you wish, you'd also have a chance to swim in it, of course! -Finally, we will begin our one-and-a-half-hour return trip to Costa Maya.
