An experienced tour leader and professional car driver, I have been living and working in Santorini for 10 years, now. Also, being born and raised in a Greek island, it wasn't hard for me to understand and feel the authentic atmosphere of my surroundings from the very beginning. In my first professional steps, I chose to be a driver in some of the biggest travel agencies of the island. These years were the most important ones in my career, although I couldn't realize that back then, for they gave me a full picture of the streets and driving rules in a place with thousands of visitors arriving every day (especially during the summer season). Later, I started leading small and bigger groups around the island, following a specific itinerary and time schedule that was given by the agencies. I was feeling so scared and thrilled at the same time. Scared because I had to face big responsibilities, but also thrilled because I had finally found my dream job. Since then, I have been working day and night, discovering every important, new or secret spot, activity, taste and view that could best represent the "real" Santorini. As your own private guide, I have taken good care of every little detail: I've single handedly picked 3 of the best wineries of the island (among a long list of existing ones) for you to have pre-arrange tastings inside each, and will drive you in between them making sure that we visit all in time! On our way to each different winery, we'd also be able to make a stop at a wonderful vineyard (optional) where I'd be happy to provide you with some information regarding the climate conditions and surface that make Santorinian wines so distinctive and famous around the world. After having experienced this tour, you will have explored another aspect of Santorini that will surely add a lot to your overall knowledge and idea of this unique volcanic island!
Your Santorini tour itinerary
· After picking you up from your lodging, we'll head to Avantis Anhydrous, which since 2012 exclusively operates as a production area where the top quality grapes of Santorini is vinified. · Next, we'll head to the traditional village of Megalochori, where we'll visit Gavalas, one of the island's oldest wineries (4 generations) who vinify the most vibrant varieties in Greece, like Assyrtiko & Mavrotragano. · On arrival, I'll talk about the Gavalas family purpose to highlight the particular characteristics of Santorini's terroir, truly respecting local varieties. · We'll then head to Estate Argyros winery, belonging to a family who's been involved in wine production since 1903! · On arrival to this 3000 m2 wide cutting edge establishment from 2015 (among Santorini's most impressive ones), we'll carry out a guided visit to its vineyards. ·At last, I'll drive you back to your hotel or any other place upon request.
