When I hopped off of a ferry boat and onto Aegina island more than 30 years ago, I would never have believed that Aegina would become my home - even though it was love at first sight. I live on Aegina with my family and many cats and dogs. Luck and chance brought me here but I couldn't have chosen a better place to live. Aegina is a beautiful island with a fascinating history, inhabited by warm, hospitable people, surrounded by glittering clear blue sea and with deliciously healthy Greek cuisine that I'll never grow tired of. I have been living on Aegina for more than 30 years and during that time I've learnt so much of the island's history, mythology, traditions and way of life. I love introducing my guests to all of the wonders that Aegina has to offer I am not a licenced guide

The majestic temple of Afaia, one of Greece's best preserved, Doric styled temples is built in a very beautiful setting, surrounded by pine forests with spectacular views. After this tour, Afaia might just become your favourite ancient Greek temple. You'll be introduced to Aegina's rich and interesting religious history - from the Byzantine era until now. The huge, imposing, ornate cathedral, dedicated to Aegina's patron saint, Nektarius, the hill of Paliachora with its small, quaint Byzantine churches will illuminate the love and dedication that inhabitants of Aegina have felt and still feel, for their religion. You'll experience Aegina's natural beauty - olive groves, Pistachio tree orchards, unspoiled hillsides and beautiful sea views. You'll also have the opportunity to sample some of the best cuisine that Greece has to offer!
- Our first stop will be the remains of the Byzantine town of Paliachora. - We'll go for a walk along the footpaths and enter some of the beautiful old chapels to admire lovingly painted frescoes and beautiful architecture. - From there we'll visit the magnificent, newly built cathedral, dedicated to the island's patron saint, Nektarius. - Going back in time we'll drive on for a stop at the temple of Afaia. - Then we'll take a scenic coastal route back into Aegina town. - Here is where I'll leave you, but if you have time before your boat leaves I'm sure that you'll enjoy exploring the lovely town with its neo classical buildings and pretty harbour or tasting some delicious local cuisine in one of the Aegina's excellent tavernas. The overall length of this tour will depend on how much time you choose to spend at each of our stops. I can customize the tour for larger groups. Please contact me for details and a quote.
