Dear guests, welcome to the "old continent". My name is Eric. I was born in Paris to parents and grandparents of Prussian-German, Polish, and French descent, and I consider myself truly European. This diverse family background, combined with my mother’s influence, gave me an early curiosity for other countries, their people, languages, and history. It also allowed me to become multilingual from a young age—something for which I have always been deeply grateful, as it has served me well throughout my professional life. My interest in tourism began in high school. However, for financial reasons, I initially worked in Paris as a banker for eight years before finally turning to my true passion: the travel and tourism industry. I worked for several years as a sailing and ski instructor for Club Méditerranée, then spent fifteen years living on the French Riviera, working in the catering industry. I also spent three years as a limousine chauffeur in Monaco, transporting movie and music stars—an experience as fascinating as it was unique. In 1999, I moved to London, where I lived for ten years and developed my full-time career as a Tour Manager. During this time, I worked extensively across Europe, gaining in-depth knowledge of many countries and destinations I am passionate about and love to share with my guests. In 2009, I settled in a wine-growing village near Frankfurt and began specialising in German and European history. Since then, I have been conducting day tours and multi-day tours for English- and French-speaking travellers, working with UK-based and local companies and since 2012 ToursByLocals for private tours. Alongside this, I have worked as a Cruise Director on numerous rivers, including the Rhine, Moselle, Main, Rhône, Seine, Danube, Elbe, Nile, Dnieper, and Volga. Do you wish to explore European capitals, vibrant cities and countries, charming towns, picturesque half-timbered villages, remarkable UNESCO World Heritage sites, and magnificent castles and monuments? Would you like to discover hidden aspects of local life, travel through beautiful scenery, and learn about both old and modern traditions? Then I would be delighted to accompany you on that journey. It gives me great pleasure to share my deep knowledge of Europe while spending enjoyable and memorable time with my guests—revisiting or discovering places close to my heart and tasting local food and drink specialties. As you may have gathered, I am very much a people person… though I do enjoy animals as well! Apart from my professional background, I enjoy Nordic walking, cycling and keeping fit. My aim is that we meet as fellow travellers, enjoy the miles with smiles, and part as friends. Eric Other alternative services offered are:

Overview of your Frankfurt tour

A short drive takes us to the unique Romantic Heidelberg & oldest university city in Germany. Its extended Castle area is reached by the funicular ride. Included guided tour via the courtyard & cellar and see the largest wooded wine barrel in the world built 1751. You are going to enjoy taking photos from there towards the valley and the Neckar river or from the top of the 7m high barrel where 70 people can dance together. You hear more about the history of this symbolic place for the Palatinate coveted by the French King Louis XIV in 1689. Walking together on the longest pedestrian street in Germany, we pass the 1389 church of the Holy Spirit, the 1598 „Zum Ritter" building, and the old University square. In return to the financial capital of Europe Frankfurt, I give you a driving panoramic tour. Pass the New central European Bank, the fair trade area, the Zeil, Palm Gardens & Goethe University. Walk with me to the "Roemer" and the newly rebuilt "old quarter" & archeological Romain remains.

We took back to back tours with Eric of Eltz Castle and Cochem on day one, and then Heidelberg on day two. Both tours were fantastic and we recommend both with Eric if you have the time. Eric took us all through the Castle grounds and the historical center of Heidelberg, and provided the rich history of the castle and city. He provided great information in an easy to follow and understand format. Eric also was a very good driver as both Eltz Castle, Cochem and Heidelberg require some driving to get to from Frankfurt.

It was last minute and only for a few hours, but Eric gave us a winderful Christmas market tour - for a grandmother, mother, and a four year old. Food, rides, Christmas treats.... Eric was very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend!

Eric was very professional and knowledgeable during the tour. He shared the history of the places we visited and knew the best spots to take good photos. He was accommodating of our requests and gave us more time to linger at a place that caught our fancy.

Eric was a superb tour guide. He was timely, courteous, drove safely, had a superb commentary on history and special attributes of the areas we visited, and tailored the activity plan to our priorities. We would highly recommend Eric.

Eric was an excellent guide, not to mention an excellent driver (and I am a paranoid passenger, as my husband likes to point out). We very much enjoyed the entire tour/day. We learned alot about the history of Gelnhausen. My husband specifically enjoyed Eric showing us the old Kaserne (Army Post) that he was once stationed at.
