I've been lucky enough to be a tour guide in Normandy since 2007 after having studied tourism in Paris. I couldn't have imagined then how much I would value each day I live and work in this wonderful and historic region. Whether you've been reading about the sites you want to see here in Normandy and have finally managed to get the chance to come and see it for yourself, or you just want you and your family to develop a better understanding of the events that happened here, I appreciate that this is very likely a once in a lifetime occassion and I will try to make your visit an unforgettable experience for you. As a visual person I need to see something with my own eyes to try to understand it and I think many people are like this as well. Consequently I work with maps and photos to help you to understand locations and how and why things happened there. It's also great to see the difference between then and now. I only give private tours because I believe that conversations during our day together make all the difference. We can walk out on the beach as much as you want, and whenever anything isn't clear, please just ask a question, that's why I'm here! Often visitors end their day with me and say they've enjoyed learing about the history of the events, but what I find so passionate about it is that everyone has their own interests and perhaps personal stories to share. I will talk about the overall history (and for the D-Day tours this will include as well personal and local stories of people involved). Whenever I can, I'll take little side streets to show you what Normandy really looks like and how people live, and lived, out here in the country side. Overview of your Bayeux tour
You will have the opportunity to visit one of France's most breathtaking and historical sites. During our scenic drive from our starting point, you will get to see the beautiful countryside of Normandy with it's rolling hills and hedgerows. As we get closer you will be overwhelmed by the architectural feat to build a large abbey on such a small island. You will learn about the history of the island and the abbey and during our walk up to the abbey entrance, you will have the privilege to see the charming side of the village that many others unfortunately miss. Visiting the island and the abbey you will understand why this place is so unique and has been so inspirinng to many monks, pilgrims and artists. You will have a stunning panormic view of the bay the island is in. Important: the abbey will be closed on June 1st 2026!! Please chose a different day to come.

This was our second day with Eva and again she was a great guide and host. Her knowledge of Mount St. Michelle was again fantastic. She also knew exactly how to get around the island and avoid some of the crowd. She picked us up first thing in the morning at our hotel in Caen, right on time. Took us to Mount St. Michelle and explained all the history and back stories to the island along with telling us about the current history and stories of the local area. Just a great job.
Your Bayeux tour itinerary
This Tour will start at your hotel in Bayeux or any other agreed place. - Approximately 1, 5-hours drive to Mont Saint Michel. - We will take the shuttle which takes us close to the island. - Walk through the village. - Visit the abbey which is located on top of the island where we will see - abbey church, cloister, refectorium, scriptorium. - Lunch - Optional - (either on the island or in Avranches) This tour will end at the agreed place in Bayeux.
