This tour was Day 5 of 5 tours with Graham. The house and gardens are famous and usually people tour them coming from Paris. We toured the gardens the last day of our trip, so we could get to Paris. The house and gardens, especially the Japanese Garden and iconic bridge are extremely beautiful, and definitely worth seeing. I would also recommend the Museum of Impressionism nearby. Again, Graham knew where to park and where to enter the gardens, and he assisted with all we needed. Later, he drove us on into Paris to our hotel. He was patient and kind during this long trip. We appreciated our 5 days with him more than anyone could imagine. He is an outstanding guide, and we have fond memories of the remarkable time we had with him over the 5 days!

I was born and grew up in Kent, United Kingdom. Gardens and museum of the former residence of Claude Monet
Overview of your Bayeux tour
Claude Monet lived from 1883 to 1926 in Giverny. His two main passions were gardening and colours, his garden and water garden were true works of art. In his house and gardens one can still feel the atmosphere of this well known Impressionist artist. Claude Monet noticed the village of Giverny while looking out of a train window. He made up his mind to move there and rented a house and the area surrounding it. In 1890 he had enough money to buy the house and land outright and set out to create the magnificent gardens he wanted to paint. Some of his most famous paintings were of his garden in Giverny, famous for its rectangular Clos Normand. Monet lived in the house with its famous pink crushed brick façade from 1883 until his death in 1926. He and many members of his family are interred in the village cemetery.

Graham gave us a very full day and led us through an exploration of art, history and culture in France over centuries. Graham is knowledgeable about a wide variety of subjects and able to explain the history and significance of the many places we saw. It was a long day, but we didn’t want it to end and learned so much. I also want to note that Graham was as pleasant to be with as he was informative. We highly recommend his tours!
Graham is a great guide, a safe driver, and knowledgeable. We loved having Graham guide us through Monet's gardens and home, Roeun, and Honfleur. He was most accommodating with booking, his time, and the itinerary which we all really enjoyed. Giverny with Monet's attractions was the best! Honfleur was a lovely, charming, picture-perfect port city with much to see. Rouen held Joan of Arc's memorial and St. Catherine's Cathedral.
Graham was a great guide, picking us up from the port, shepherding us thru Monet's home and gardens which were awesome, showing us Rouen, then the charming port city of Honfleur. Graham was especially accommodating (gave up a vacation day), knowledgeable, and cheerful. My rating is actually 4 1/2. Not a 5 as there was a glitch with meeting us at the port and with lunch. Monday found many restaurants closed. Suggestion is to learn where/what restaurants would be open and what type of cuisine served.
Your Bayeux tour itinerary
We will leave your hotel, cruise ship etc and drive to the area in upper normandy known as Giverny. It is an hour and a half from Le Havre and 2. 15 from Bayeux. We will then visit the museum learning about Monet and his life and works in Giverny and other artists such as Willard Metcalf Louis Ritman Theodore Wendel John Leslie Breck and Theodore Earl Butler married Monet's stepdaughter also the second wave of American painters in such as Richerd E Miller In December 1910, six of the Giverny artists (Frieseke, Miller, Lawton S Parker, Guy Rose known as "The Giverny Group. " We can then have lunch in the area according to your preferences and spend the afternoon viewing the spectacular gardens created by Monet himself including climbing plants entwined around coloured shrubs, and the water garden, formed by a tributary to the Epte with the Japanese bridge, the pond with the water lilies, the wisterias and the azaleas.
