I've been lucky enough to be a tour guide in Normandy since 2007 after having studied tourism in Paris. I couldn't have imagined then how much I would value each day I live and work in this wonderful and historic region. Whether you've been reading about the sites you want to see here in Normandy and have finally managed to get the chance to come and see it for yourself, or you just want you and your family to develop a better understanding of the events that happened here, I appreciate that this is very likely a once in a lifetime occassion and I will try to make your visit an unforgettable experience for you. As a visual person I need to see something with my own eyes to try to understand it and I think many people are like this as well. Consequently I work with maps and photos to help you to understand locations and how and why things happened there. It's also great to see the difference between then and now. I only give private tours because I believe that conversations during our day together make all the difference. We can walk out on the beach as much as you want, and whenever anything isn't clear, please just ask a question, that's why I'm here! Often visitors end their day with me and say they've enjoyed learing about the history of the events, but what I find so passionate about it is that everyone has their own interests and perhaps personal stories to share. I will talk about the overall history (and for the D-Day tours this will include as well personal and local stories of people involved). Whenever I can, I'll take little side streets to show you what Normandy really looks like and how people live, and lived, out here in the country side. Did you always want to understand why D-Day was so important in History and why it still is today for many people? On this tour we'll talk about what was going on at the time (you'll hear also about Germany as I grew up there), how France got occupied by the Nazis and why Normandy was finally chosen for the landing of Allied forces. You will get to see my maps and photos which will help you to visualize it as well. We will be walking on the sites where battles were fought and through the personal stories of soldiers (but also local French people living there at the time), you will not only get to hear about the overall history but also get to understand the individual stories. I've been a guide here for over 10 years now and had the chance to meet veterans, their families and local French people and heard their stories, plus all the research I did, I try do my best to give you a memorable tour.
The movies do not give you the real perspective of the events that happend on D Day. EVA DID! We were in awe on every aspect at the Cemetery and especially seeing the terrain at the beaches. The Allied stragey on Day just makes sense now that we experienced it with Eva as our guide. She also knew where to go and when as to avoid the big tour groups. It was very personal. Thank you Eva for all the memories we will keep with us.
We had an amazing tour of Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery with Eva. Her knowledge of the history, the strategy, the battles, what went according to plan and what didn’t was unsurpassed. Not only did she know the facts she enhanced the experience with her personal stories of former D-day veterans and their families that she has met on her tours. It was truly a memorable day.
It was great to meet Eva! From the moment we meet her, she was giving us advices on what clothes to wear in order to avoid cold as much as possible. Super knowledgeable and went out of her way to take us to the German Cemetery and 16th century apple /cider farm that was off the beaten path. Great experience! Awesome history lover! Thank you Eva!
Wonderful tour for our family, which Eva managed to make interesting and motivating for both kids for several hours. There's so much history here and Eva did a great job explaining, contextualizing, and demonstrating. Highly recommended and worth the special trip to the area.

We only had space for 1 day in Normandy and chose to drive from Paris to the Caen museum in the am and wanted to learn as much as possible about Dday in the pm. We found Eva who was very responsive and helped us design a flexible 4.5 hour trip in her car from Bayeux. She was friendly, extremely knowledgeable and experienced. She supplemented her stories with a very helpful photo album. She even suggested some super stops on the way home - Gold and Juno beach and Canadian cemetery…. Highly recommended!!
This tour will start at your hotel in Bayeux or another place by arrangement. - Pointe du Hoc (German strongpoint which was one of the most important objectives to be taken that day) - Omaha beach (we try to stop at a site where you still can find emplacements and if the tide allows, you can walk on the beach as well) - Normandy American cemetery. This tour will end at the agreed place in Bayeux. I'll drive my 7-seater VW Sharan, which is air-conditioned and from 2020. The seats are very comfortable. I can take up to 4 adults plus two people in the rear. On the sites, we'll walk often on sand and sometimes uneven ground so make sure you wear good walking shoes.
