Medieval Justice - from Stone of Shame to Burning

On this tour we will explore justice in the Middle Ages. What crimes were considered serious and petty in those days, where the guilty were usually punished and executed, how the townspeople treated hangmen, counterfeiters or brawl fighters... We will discuss all that based on real cases of medieval Tallinn. Besides learning fines for swearing, punishments for gossip and prisons, we will discuss famous European personalities punished or executed in the Middle Ages and freedom in medieval cities... And for sure, along the walk we will see most of highlights in Old Town! Welcome!

- At first, we gather at Town Hall square. We will see the place where the pillory was located... - Afterwards, we will visit old pharmacy and discuss and see medieval medicines in the pharmacy's small museum - We will move to the City wall and Maiden tower which used to be a prison - The Upper town, vista point and the Dome - Then it's Pikk street, main street in medieval Lower Town with a plenty of stories to tell. - The next stop is Lai street to have a look at the house, whose owner has been burned... - Fat Margareth - a legendary tower with a rich and curious history
