Hello! Hola! Bonjour! Looking for a knowledgeable, professional, fun and passionate tour guide? Well, I am the right person to show you this unique beautiful historic city! Here is what you can expect from my tours: - a personalised and friendly experience; I tailor the tour according to your interests and pace. - a better understanding of the context of historic events that shaped the city, the province or even the country; I offer different perspectives, including First Nations, French, British, Canadian, etc. - a knowledgeable description of the most iconic buildings, places, public monuments and landscape of the old city. - an overview of modern Québec, including “Québécois” culture, language, identity and, of course, gastronomy; I will be more than glad to provide some recommendations. - suggestions about the best pics (“Instagram Moments”). - I encourage and welcome questions. My goal is to contribute to enhancing your vacation experience in Québec City. Trained in communication, I am passionate about arts, culture, history, politics and socioeconomics, including the perspective of First Nations (indigenous peoples) in all of these. My academic background and my interests shape the content of my guided visits in Québec City, helping visitors, as I often say, to discover the soul of this unique city. I started my career as a tour guide back in the mid 90’s in Colombia, my country of origin. In 1997, I came to Canada to learn English and French, and I fell in love with this country right away. Proudly, I have been calling Canada home ever since. I have lived in Toronto then Montreal, before settling in Quebec City in 2002. My first job in my adopted country was (of course) acting as a tour guide, taking visitors in a Central Canada itinerary: Niagara Falls, Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal and Québec City. I subsequently worked for the Provincial Government, promoting Québec internationally. After 22 years, I decided to pursue my career in what I enjoy most and do with my friends and family: assisting visitors who are eager to learn about a place that is new to them or want to rediscover the city off the beaten path. My diversified background has helped me develop a multifaceted approach to explaining the city: - Certified tour guide in Québec City (St-Lawrence College). - Bachelor’s degree in communication and journalism (Colombia). - Undergraduate diploma in French (Montreal). - Postgraduate diploma in international management (Quebec City). - International MBA (Paris, France). Consequently, some of the comments that I have received (2024) from my guests indicate that - my visits are “very educational and fun”, - I am a “fantastic storyteller”, - I do a “good job of weaving a city history with many angles of the same story”, and - I have “a good sense of humour, (am) knowledgeable, respectful, and share in a manner that keeps everyone engaged”. Please let me share with you the enthusiasm that I have for my adopted city, acting as your private local tour guide during your stay in "the Number One City in Canada" (Travel + Leisure Magazine, 2024).

Discover the charm and history of the most European-like fortified city in North América. My suggested itinerary will include both the Lower-Town and the Upper-Town in Old Québec. This 3-hour walking tour around Old Québec will allow you to understand the different periods of the city and the country. We will start with the importance of the First Nations; continue with the arrival of the first French settlers and the creation of the Royal colony of New France; we pursue the creation of the British Province of Québec and the Dominion of Canada. I always discuss contemporary Québec, the only officially French-speaking society in the heart of North America. Québec City and particularly, the Old Walled City will surprise you with its beauty, its history and its vibrant European atmosphere. My walking tour of Old Québec can be tailored specially to you, and we can start it at your preferred location. If you are interested in specific sites or subjects, I'd be more than happy to incorporate them.
Great tour with Luis! We learned so much about the 350 year history of Quebec City. Luis is very knowledgeable and delivered all the information with enthusiasm and friendliness. I highly recommend Luis.
Luis was our guide on this tour. He was excellent; knowledgeable, passionate and a great storyteller. We will recommend him to our friends.
Luis our guide was very informative. He explained the history of the city of Quebec with great detail. The tour was given on our pace. We would recommend taking a tour with Luis when in Quebec City. It was very enjoyable.
It was our first time in Quebec City myself and my daughter. We wanted to learn the history and take in the culture and ambiance of this special place. We chose Luis. What we ended up getting was all of that and so much more! We felt comfortable with him right away and quickly realized that he was incredibly knowledgeable and so passionate about this City’s history and its people. We learned so much from him that we were able to recall what he taught us as our trip continued. He also gave us personal recommendations that were helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed Luis as a person very likable and engaging. If you’re headed to Quebec City you must hire Luis as your tour guide!! You will be so happy you did!!! As a tour guide, Luis was absolutely great in every aspect. Before the tour and regarding its coordination, communication with him as assertive, effective and smooth. The day of the tour he was punctual, very kind and also patient. When it comes to the tour itself, we had the chance to walk through the streets of Old Quebec while stopping at its most iconic places. Also, the tour was even more than what we expected in terms of the information we received. I specially value Luis' objectivity and his fact-based approach to all the information provided. When needed, he would also give all the different perspectives from which one can see a specific phenomenon. I'd definitely highly recommend Luis as a tour guide.
I have been to Quebec City at least 7-8 times and have seen the attractions many times. Luis provided my companion and I a perspective of QC that I had never experienced. He took us to hidden gems, secret alley ways and recommended restaurants that he has vetted because he is a resident. The history of Quebec City is fascinating when Luis tells it. He is very knowledgable and explains the intricacies of all the factors that contributed of the British Conquest. You will learn about how the British were interested in making Quebec the fourteen colony and how far Americans got into Quebec City before being forced back, I particularly enjoyed a stroll through a formerly rundown crime ridden neighborhood now rehabilitated to reflect the prosperity of Quebec. I highly recommend Luiz as a tour guard. He provides an opportunity to get away from a typical tour and to learn a lot!
The typical 3-hour walking tour will describe those places in Upper-Town: - The National Assembly and the Tourny Fountain. - The Saint-Louis Street and Gate. - The Jacquet House (oldest house in the Walled City). - The Ursulines Monastery. - The Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. - City Hall, including the Price Building (Art Déco) and the seminary. - The Basilica-cathedral of Notre-Dame-de-Québec. - The Lord Dufferin Terrasse and its impressive view of the Saint-Lawrence River. - The iconic Château Frontenac. From Upper-Town to Lower-Town (or vice-versa), we can take either the Côte de la Montagne Street or the Funicular for an extra $6. The typical tour will also include the following places in Lower-Town: - The Break-Neck Stairs. - The Québécois Fresco. - The Place de Paris and the Place Royale (the cradle of the French civilisation in North America). - The Royal Battery (1691). - The Petit-Champlain District, “The Most Beautiful Commercial Street in Canada” (Condé Nast Traveler, 2024).
