I’m a proud Québécois and have been living in Québec City for over 40 years. It’s my home — and I can’t wait to share it with you. Québec City is one of the oldest cities in North America, and its history is everywhere: in the architecture, the streets, the traditions, and the stories that have shaped it for over four centuries. During our tour, history won’t just be a backdrop — it will be part of everything we see, feel, and experience together. But there’s more. I’ll also introduce you to what I call the Québec Difference — the unique character of our society that sets us apart from the rest of the continent. This distinctiveness comes from a blend of French, British, Canadian, and North American influences. It explains our language, our values, our institutions… and yes, sometimes even our tensions and debates. The Québec Difference has given rise to deep pride, but also to political movements and cultural challenges that still shape our society today. Whether you’re a couple, a family, a solo traveler, or part of a group, my goal is to make you feel welcome and help you connect with Québec City in a meaningful way. I love sharing both the big stories and the little-known facts — from major historical turning points to local customs and everyday life. If you’re looking for something a little different, or if you have special interests or needs, just reach out! I’d be happy to tailor a tour that’s just right for you. I look forward to meeting you — and I promise, you’ll leave Québec City with a smile, great memories, and a new appreciation for this remarkable city. Overview of your Quebec City tour

This tour will appeal to everyone who appreciates getting to know a place by learning its history and how it shaped the present. Whether you're an experienced traveler or if it's your first time in Quebec City, you will appreciate walking through history every step of the way. After this tour, you'll understand why people in Quebec still speak French, even though we became a British colony in the middle of the 18th century. The architecture of Old Quebec is unique in the sense that many influences (mostly French, British and Canadian) were present during more than 400 years of history, and I will show you how those influences transformed the city that I have the privilege to call home. Stunning views of the St. Lawrence river are waiting for you in the upper part of the city, along with wonderful cobblestone streets, historic buildings and monuments. I can't wait to share my love of this city with you. I'll do whatever it takes to make this tour something you will remember for a long time.

Christian is an extremely knowledgeable guide regarding the history of Quebec City. He presents the subject matter in a well organized manner and continuously reviews and connects previous historical information to new information he presents. Christian uses small visual aids which help you to "see" the development of Quebec City and why/how it is the city it is today. He is very personable and his presentation is organized. He reached out to us prior to our tour to help with planning and tailoring the tour for us. I can't imagine there is a better guide in the city. (Maybe some that are equal?).

This was an 11 out of 10! Christian told the Quebec history as if he were reading historical fiction. Three hours flew by. He’s truly the best guide ever!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Outstanding Tour and the Best Guide We've Ever Had My spouse and I have taken guided tours across Asia, Europe, and the United States, and we've been fortunate to have some truly exceptional guides over the years. That said, I can confidently say that, for me, Christian's walking tour of Old Québec is my favorite tour experience of all. Christian is incredibly personable, patient, and engaging. He welcomed questions throughout the tour and handled a few unavoidable interruptions— of a few work-related phone calls during our tour—with grace, good humor, and absolutely no sign of irritation. He made us feel very comfortable. What truly sets Christian apart is his ability to tell a story – and to connect multiple histories and perspectives. In just three hours, he guided us through more than 420 years of Québec City's history in a way that was cohesive, understandable, and fascinating from beginning to end. His ability to weave together the histories of Québec, France, Europe, Indigenous peoples, Canada, and even the United States was masterful. Historical events, people, and places that could easily feel disconnected became part of a compelling narrative that brought the city to life. I spent several weeks in Québec City a few years ago and absolutely loved it then. After taking Christian's tour, I love it even more now. Alongside Paris—and perhaps even surpassing it this trip—Québec City has become my favorite city to visit and simply be in. Christian's passion for the city is contagious. In fact, the tour inspired me to start planning a return visit already. The German Christmas Market and the famous ice canoe races are now firmly on my list—perhaps this year and certainly by next year. My spouse had never visited Québec City before this trip and came away equally impressed. He especially appreciated how Christian presented the city's history from the time of the Indigenous peoples through the modern era, making it accessible, meaningful, and memorable. And Christian—I've never been much of a Korean drama fan, but after your recommendation, I'm now going to track down Guardian: The Lonely and Great God ("Goblin") and give it a watch! If you're visiting Québec City and considering a walking tour, stop looking and book this one. Christian is exceptional, and this tour is an absolute highlight of any visit to this remarkable city. Highly, highly recommended!!

Christian Gingras was absolutely amazing! Couldn't ask for a better guide. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly, punctual and professional. It was like walking around with a friend taking you on a tour of their lovely city. Pointed out things that I would not have even noticed. I highly recommend Christian for your private escorted tour.

Your Quebec City tour itinerary

The itinerary will be a bit different for every tour depending on the starting point but will include most of the following (not in particular order): * Place Royale, the birthplace of Quebec City * Rue du Petit-Champlain, voted many times as the most beautiful street in Canada * Château Frontenac, a beautiful hotel that has become the symbol of Quebec City * Terrasse Dufferin, a wonderful boardwalk with stunning views on the St. Lawrence River * Monument Wolfe-Montcalm, the first monument in Quebec and its importance in understanding Canada's heritage * Quebec City Fortifications, making Quebec the only walled city north of Mexico * Morrin Center, the first prison, a college and a cultural and historical center * Holy Trinity and Notre-Dame, the first Anglican and Catholic cathedrals * Séminaire de Québec, my favorite part of the city, the cradle of the Catholic Church in Canada * Parc Montmorency, the birthplace of democracy in Canada Subject to some changes.

I really like to start my tours at the Champlain Monument (on Dufferin Terrace), the heart of Old Quebec, for the history of the city to unfold along the tour. But it it's important for you, I can pick you up anywhere inside the walls of Old Quebec or in the historic Lower town area. Please dress comfortably (good walking shoes) and appropriately for the weather.
