Nova Scotia is my home and its history is woven into the fabric of my family. Both of my parents were born within 40 yards of the Atlantic Ocean and as children, we grew up learning about the coasts of Nova Scotia. History was one of my favorite subjects in school and whet my appetite for exploring the places in Nova Scotia where the events actually unfolded. When ToursByLocals arrived it provided the opportunity to show others this story as well as the splendid scenery here. Becoming a Tour Guide has rekindled my interest in history. What could be a better job than offering tours and to entertain people with the sights and flavours of this part of the world? I will give you one example. I live in direct proximity to one of the most striking events to occur in North America. During the First World War, a catastrophic explosion ripped Halifax apart. Known as the Halifax Explosion it remains the largest man made, pre-nuclear explosion in history. I specialize in bringing that story to you. I want to thank you for being interested in visiting Nova Scotia and I want to make your visit memorable by showing our beautiful scenery and the history I spoke of. It would be my honor to show all of this and expose you to our famous down east hospitality. The shoreline and landscapes outside the city are beautiful and I only hope my fondness for this part of the world is conveyed in my tours. A Little About Me: As I indicated in the beginning I have lived here all my life. I have two grown-up sons, one that lives here and one that works in another part of Canada. I also have one grown-up granddaughter who delights us with her stories from her unusual career. Although I am retired I am really pleased to start entertaining visitors to our province The most famous places here attract a lot of visitors, however, there is more to offer. History is not the only thing to experience on a tour. There are more current sights and interesting places than forts from 400 years ago! Check my tour selection to see what I mean. Some of my itineraries are slanted toward the interests of women. Why? Because there is a void there. But please understand that tours for gals are not exclusive, all are welcome. My favorite parts of the tours is leaving the beaten track. They are the nooks and crannies that I can't wait to show you. Come visit and enjoy your time in Nova Scotia. I am licensed by the Province of Nova Scotia. I have a Class 4 Commercial License and corresponding Commercial Insurance. I am graduate of Christopher's Course (public speaking). Past member of Nova Scotia Federation of Labour for Human Rights. I have passed a Criminal Records Check and a Venerable Persons Check. None

This tour takes a route which is one of the most beautiful stretches of scenery. It hugs the shore following miles of coast and in some places sits between the sea and cliff faces. The scenery is wonderful and equally amazing to photograph. We can stop as often as you wish although stopping when we are between the cliff and the sea will be difficult, but doable. The communities flow seamlessly from one to another. The villages are small and quaint and have not changed a great deal through the decades. They change from one to another and missing the place name is very easy. Sometimes you see the bay between the trees and sometimes you see it beside the car. On this route we will be approaching the community of Hubbards. Before we return to the Highway and will stop at a very unique women's shop that everyone tries to keep private. However to venture on to Mahone Bay we must leave the coast and return to the highway. Here in Nova Scotia you see rocks, trees, lakes and sky and maybe a bird of prey.
• Making our way out of the city and heading toward The Head of St Margaret's Bay takes us through Tantallon where we may or may not stop at an slightly unusual book store. it depends on their availability. • Leaving there we will continue along one of the main roads to the South Shore. The South shore was inhabited beginning in the 1700's. Although it is slowly changing it is still quaint and independent. Also this part of our tour includes a very unique women's clothing store which we will call on. • Leaving Hubbards we head for Mahone Bay which is a photographers joy and has a great shoe store. • Then back toward Halifax and a brief visit to Peggy's Cove. More photography here. Tour can be customized upon request feel free to message me
