Nova Scotia is my home and its history is woven into the fabric of my family. Both of my parents were born within 40 yards of the Atlantic Ocean and as children, we grew up learning about the coasts of Nova Scotia. History was one of my favorite subjects in school and whet my appetite for exploring the places in Nova Scotia where the events actually unfolded. When ToursByLocals arrived it provided the opportunity to show others this story as well as the splendid scenery here. Becoming a Tour Guide has rekindled my interest in history. What could be a better job than offering tours and to entertain people with the sights and flavours of this part of the world? I will give you one example. I live in direct proximity to one of the most striking events to occur in North America. During the First World War, a catastrophic explosion ripped Halifax apart. Known as the Halifax Explosion it remains the largest man made, pre-nuclear explosion in history. I specialize in bringing that story to you. I want to thank you for being interested in visiting Nova Scotia and I want to make your visit memorable by showing our beautiful scenery and the history I spoke of. It would be my honor to show all of this and expose you to our famous down east hospitality. The shoreline and landscapes outside the city are beautiful and I only hope my fondness for this part of the world is conveyed in my tours. A Little About Me: As I indicated in the beginning I have lived here all my life. I have two grown-up sons, one that lives here and one that works in another part of Canada. I also have one grown-up granddaughter who delights us with her stories from her unusual career. Although I am retired I am really pleased to start entertaining visitors to our province The most famous places here attract a lot of visitors, however, there is more to offer. History is not the only thing to experience on a tour. There are more current sights and interesting places than forts from 400 years ago! Check my tour selection to see what I mean. Some of my itineraries are slanted toward the interests of women. Why? Because there is a void there. But please understand that tours for gals are not exclusive, all are welcome. My favorite parts of the tours is leaving the beaten track. They are the nooks and crannies that I can't wait to show you. Come visit and enjoy your time in Nova Scotia. Tell All Titanic, Truth About Halifax Explosion, Peggy's Cove: What went wrong? Was it simply one point that failed? How many movies and books and documentaries have delved into this marine disaster? These tragedies have been woven into our history but how much is fiction? There is more to these stories and I want to share that information with you. It can be observed that most disasters seem to have something in common. History shows that each disaster is created by several non-fatal events that start separately with one event and then other individual issues also arise, culminating into a catastrophic event. In the history of Halifax that process accounts for the Titanic disaster as well as a city devastated by an explosion. This combination of events will be one of the things we explore as we examine the sites and memorabilia of the Halifax Explosion and the Sinking of the Titanic. Peggy's Cove and the walkabout there will give us a beautiful distraction in the middle of our day.
Fantastic tour of the highlights of Halifax and surroundings. Learned some history, saw some GIANT lobsters, and experienced breathtaking views of Peggy's Cove. It's just a small taste of what Halifax has to offer, but it was enough to make us want to come back for more.
,We chose this tour to see Peggy’s Cove, little did we know that we’d see so much more. Peggy’s Cove was nice but the out of the way hidden gems made for an informative and fun filled afternoon. The Hooker Rug Museum was a high lite. Carole is not only a tour guide but a story teller, she made the titanic graveyard come alive. We enjoyed our time with Carol, we felt like we were visiting a long lost cousin, and to top it off she knows how to tell a joke.
Carol was very accommodating to our needs. It was so nice to have a private tour with my handicapped scooter. She stopped whenever I needed to use the restroom. She took us to Walmart when we needed to pick something up. And best of all, we got to stay at Peggy’s Cove as long as we wanted to with no restrictions. I loved her stories while traveling in the car. It made the driving time go faster. Carol is a delightful, patient tour guide. I highly recommend her.
This was a wonderful tour. It really helped having someone who knew the area, drive us around and give us a talk and history of what we were seeing. She allows ample time to see what we wanted to see and was very flexible with the itinerary. Loved the maple syrup at the end. Thank you Carol
Carol was a great tour guide! Peggy’s cove was beautiful and we saw several beautiful coves on the way! Carol was very knowledgeable and took us to a great fish and chips restaurant for lunch! We had a great time!!

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. Three people fit well in the car but if the clients do not mind 3 can sit in the back seat and I can carry 4 passengers. I will be driving as well as narrating. -cold water -umbrella -Cell phone charging front and back seats -There is a center arm rest in the back seat and On cold damp days there are heated seats in the back as well.
