Discover the hidden treasures along the Danube with me, Sebastian Frankenberger. As a native of Passau who has lost his heart to Austria, I offer you tailor-made tours full of history, culture and unforgettable moments. My passion for history and art history began in Passau, led me to Regensburg and was further deepened by my involvement in Linz and Vienna. As a former politician and active participant in numerous associations and cultural initiatives, I bring you closer to the Danube and its regions in a personal and profound way. I have been living with my partner, who is also a tour guide and offers tours on TourByLocals as Martha T., in Vienna’s 2nd district for several years. We are just 10 minutes away from all the sights of the old town. I love the atmosphere in the Jewish Quarter with its markets, green spaces, vibrant Danube Canal banks, and its multicultural residents. As a former theology student, I am particularly fascinated by the history of the Jews and how we can teach future generations a mutual understanding of cultures. Every tour with me is a unique experience, characterized by my deep roots in the local history and culture. I go off the beaten track and offer you insights into life along the Danube that you won't find in any travel guide. With a keen sense for the needs of my guests, I customize each tour to ensure a personal and enriching experience. I'm not just interested in showing places, but in bringing the stories and people behind them to life. As a proud contributor to the EU project "Trans Danube Travel Stories", I had the opportunity to help design unique routes along the Danube. This experience enables me to provide you with exclusive insights and special routes that reveal the beauty and diversity of this European lifeline. My aim is not only to introduce you to the sights, but also to give you a comprehensive understanding of the region and its cultural characteristics.

Experience Vienna’s beauty and history in an exhilarating way – by bike! This 3-hour tour is perfect for those wanting to explore Vienna’s rich history and vibrant culture in a relaxed manner with light physical activity. We’ll cycle around the Inner City on the Ringstrasse boulevard, feeling transported back to the old days. I’ll share anecdotes about personalities like composer Ludwig van Beethoven, Emperor Franz Joseph, and artist Gustav Klimt. We’ll stop at key sights along the Ringstrasse such as the State Opera and ride to the Prater, where locals have enjoyed themselves for 200 years. You’ll get tips on the best restaurants, must-see museums, and places to enjoy a drink with locals in the evening. We’ll also discuss politics, urban development, and visit areas of the last WWII battles, making history come alive. With 170 km of cycle paths, Vienna is a cyclist’s paradise. If the weather turns bad, we’ll simply turn it into a cozy walking tour in the Old Town!
We begin our adventure at the centrally located bike center, where you will be provided with rental bicycles and helmets. After safety instructions, we’ll be ready to hit the road. • Ringstrasse: The grand boulevard encircling the old town. We’ll pass Vienna’s iconic landmarks, including the State Opera House, Parliament, and City Hall. • Hofburg Palace: Our route takes us to the former imperial residence of the Habsburg dynasty. • Museum Quarter: We cycle past the Museum of Art History and the Natural History Museum, two architectural gems with world-renowned collections. • Danube Canal: Ride along the picturesque Danube Canal, offering stunning views and a refreshing breeze. • Hundertwasser House: See the unique building designed by artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. • Prater and Giant Ferris Wheel: Finally, we ride to Vienna’s famous amusement park, where you can see the iconic Giant Ferris Wheel. We end our tour back at the bike rental center.

The route is approximately 12 km long and completely flat. It follows dedicated bike paths and crosses streets at traffic lights or crosswalks. The bikes are standard city bikes with gears, well-maintained by a local bike rental service. Of course, disinfected helmets are available for every size.
