Servus & welcome to Vienna! Like many other Viennese, I chose Vienna as my heartfelt home because the only thing better than vacationing in Vienna is, of course, living here. Apart from being the capital of waltz, art museums, and Imperial Grandeur, Vienna is a very colorful, yet relaxed, contemporary hub regularly declared the most livable city in the world. Loving my city as much as I do, I delight in sharing its beauty and its stories with visitors like you! My story starts in the 1980s behind the Iron Curtain in the capital of Romania. However, following an adventurous migration, I mostly grew up in an Austrian province named Upper Austria. My first love was art, and it began with my studies of Textile Art & Design at Linz’ University. Needless to say, this is an everlasting love, and thankfully Vienna is a city full of beautiful museums and wonderful street art. Another passion of mine is travelling, and my second career as a flight attendant in Private Aviation allowed me to travel the globe, visit dozens of countries and live and work abroad in places like the South of France. But maybe my passion # 1 currently is history – following my history studies I decided to engage in a profession that permits me to be surrounded daily with culture, history, and beauty. Therefore, I returned to Austria, declared Vienna my home at last, and obtained my qualification and certification as a local guide. When I’m not introducing Vienna to dear travelers, I might be touring through some other fascinating corner of Europe as a trip leader, or I could be enjoying la dolce vita in the Mediterranean or perhaps attending a wine seminar in the Wachau. But just as likely, I’m at home experimenting with a newly discovered recipe, hunting for books in the antiquary, or running to the theatre to catch a play. I look forward to welcoming you in what is considered to be the biggest – and certainly the most charming - village in the world, and sharing my knowledge, humor, and our local culture with you!

Overview of your Vienna tour

At the centre of Vienna stands St. Stephen's Cathedral, which has witnessed the city’s history for centuries. And indeed, much of history went on within the immediate neighbourhood of the cathedral, which, until today, bears the name Blood Alley Quarter... This tour begins with a walk though one of Vienna’s oldest parts: narrow cobbled streets, houses with baroque facades standing on medieval foundations, and picturesque hidden courtyards. We’ll talk about the origins of the quarter’s evocative name, and certainly about the stories it holds. Having gained a sense of the ancient city and pre-modern life, we continue to explore Vienna's cathedral: its primarily Gothic architecture, its monuments and chapels, and the many layers of history embedded in the structure. We consider how the cathedral was built, how it survived periods of conflict and change, and how it came to occupy such an important place in Vienna’s cultural life.
