Servus & welcome to Vienna! Like many other Viennese, I chose Vienna as my heartfelt home because the only thing better than vacationing in Vienna is, of course, living here. Apart from being the capital of waltz, art museums, and Imperial Grandeur, Vienna is a very colorful, yet relaxed, contemporary hub regularly declared the most livable city in the world. Loving my city as much as I do, I delight in sharing its beauty and its stories with visitors like you! My story starts in the 1980s behind the Iron Curtain in the capital of Romania. However, following an adventurous migration, I mostly grew up in an Austrian province named Upper Austria. My first love was art, and it began with my studies of Textile Art & Design at Linz’ University. Needless to say, this is an everlasting love, and thankfully Vienna is a city full of beautiful museums and wonderful street art. Another passion of mine is travelling, and my second career as a flight attendant in Private Aviation allowed me to travel the globe, visit dozens of countries and live and work abroad in places like the South of France. But maybe my passion # 1 currently is history – following my history studies I decided to engage in a profession that permits me to be surrounded daily with culture, history, and beauty. Therefore, I returned to Austria, declared Vienna my home at last, and obtained my qualification and certification as a local guide. When I’m not introducing Vienna to dear travelers, I might be touring through some other fascinating corner of Europe as a trip leader, or I could be enjoying la dolce vita in the Mediterranean or perhaps attending a wine seminar in the Wachau. But just as likely, I’m at home experimenting with a newly discovered recipe, hunting for books in the antiquary, or running to the theatre to catch a play. I look forward to welcoming you in what is considered to be the biggest – and certainly the most charming - village in the world, and sharing my knowledge, humor, and our local culture with you!

Today Vienna is home to the fourth Jewish community in its history. This fact alone points to the long and rich Jewish history of this city. Without doubt, the history of the Jewish people in this place has been very eventful and deeply interesting, albeit oftentimes tragic. On this tour, we explore the oldest part of Vienna, the first district, where most traces and sites of Vienna’s rich Jewish past and present can be found: those of the first and significant Medieval Jewish community, and the magnificent achievements of the third, which was instrumental in fuelling Vienna’s cultural and economic thriving during the Founder’s time, Vienna's ‘Belle époque’. Beyond these aspects, we gain a comprehensive overview of the entire history with the help of the excellent Jewish Museum of Vienna, whose two closely situated dependencies offer a vividly narrated insight into all aspects past and present, as well as an accessible archaeological excavation site of the Medieval synagogue.
- Jewish Museum Dorotheergasse, then walk to.. - Judenplatz, Holocaust Memorial - Jewish Museum Judenplatz incl. the archaeological site - city walk via Theodor-Herzl-Stiege, Desider-Friedmann-Platz, .. - Seitenstettengasse (city temple) - Schwedenplatz Entrance to the city temple is not included (currently under renovation). Itinerary customizable upon advance request.

This is a walking tour; mostly flat terrain, partly cobbles/uneven terrain, and some steps.
11 Dorotheergasse, Wien, Wien, 1010, Austria
We'll meet in the entrance area of the Jewish Museum Vienna - the house in the Dorotheergasse (!). This is the starting point of the tour and the preferred meeting location.
