Gustav Klimt and Vienna State Oper

Hi, dear Guests, On this tour, we focus on Gustav Klimt and—probably—see The Kiss. Only you can decide if the couple is really kissing or not. Because of Klimt’s magic, thousands of tourists make this decision daily. 🙂 We will discuss why women wanted to be painted by him, and why husbands wanted their women painted by nobody else but Klimt. We will learn how Klimt became so successful in 19th-century Vienna. We will also try to solve the mystery of Klimt’s square. Unfortunately, it is not the guide’s decision whether a tour at the Opera is allowed on your dates, so there is always a small risk that the Opera is closed. In this case, you will be offered a visit to the Secession Building (the Beethoven Frieze by Gustav Klimt) or the Vienna Museum (with works by Gustav Klimt). We can also visit Café Oper and talk about opera life in Vienna, inside the Opera, enjoying its unique atmosphere. So, dare to take the risk!

First, we visit the Belvedere Palace and focus on Gustav Klimt’s masterpieces: The Kiss, Judith, Sonja Knips, The Bride, Sunflower, and several landscape paintings. We discuss the lifestyle of the Viennese elite of the 19th century, as well as the connections between Adolf Hitler, Oskar Kokoschka, Egon Schiele, and Gustav Klimt. We visit the “Left Wing” of the Belvedere. Afterwards, we visit the State Opera, where we learn about the history of the building and the opera business. We see the grand staircase—the perfect place for your photo 🙂 The Tea Salon, Marble Hall, Gustav Mahler Hall, and the auditorium (with a view of the stage).
