Servus & welcome to Vienna! Like many other Viennese, I chose Vienna as my heartfelt home because the only thing better than vacationing in Vienna is, of course, living here. Apart from being the capital of waltz, art museums, and Imperial Grandeur, Vienna is a very colorful, yet relaxed, contemporary hub regularly declared the most livable city in the world. Loving my city as much as I do, I delight in sharing its beauty and its stories with visitors like you! My story starts in the 1980s behind the Iron Curtain in the capital of Romania. However, following an adventurous migration, I mostly grew up in an Austrian province named Upper Austria. My first love was art, and it began with my studies of Textile Art & Design at Linz’ University. Needless to say, this is an everlasting love, and thankfully Vienna is a city full of beautiful museums and wonderful street art. Another passion of mine is travelling, and my second career as a flight attendant in Private Aviation allowed me to travel the globe, visit dozens of countries and live and work abroad in places like the South of France. But maybe my passion # 1 currently is history – following my history studies I decided to engage in a profession that permits me to be surrounded daily with culture, history, and beauty. Therefore, I returned to Austria, declared Vienna my home at last, and obtained my qualification and certification as a local guide. When I’m not introducing Vienna to dear travelers, I might be touring through some other fascinating corner of Europe as a trip leader, or I could be enjoying la dolce vita in the Mediterranean or perhaps attending a wine seminar in the Wachau. But just as likely, I’m at home experimenting with a newly discovered recipe, hunting for books in the antiquary, or running to the theatre to catch a play. I look forward to welcoming you in what is considered to be the biggest – and certainly the most charming - village in the world, and sharing my knowledge, humor, and our local culture with you!

Overview of your Vienna tour

For more than 600 years, the Habsburg family has been ruling the country now known as Austria, and many lands today beyond our borders. During a very long time span, the family evolved from an insignificant lineage of robber barons into a dynasty ruling an empire in which the sun never set, just to finally lose all power in the dawning age of democracy (everything..?). No wonder the Habsburgs left us with an ubiquitous legacy which can be discovered and deciphered on many buildings, squares, and religious edifices in Vienna’s Old Town as well as inside locations of Imperial presence now museums. Also, many regional traditions and some character traits of and prejudices against Austrians in general and Viennese in particular can be traced back to the long rule of one dynasty. Last but nor least, we inherited many fascinating, awe-inspiring, at times shocking, sometimes tragical but every so often comical stories, some of which I will share with you on this vivid and colorful historical tour.

Laura is an amazing story teller first and foremost. Learning about Austria’s history from her was like an engaging and wonderful episode of history channel. She was warm and kind, and very knowledgeable. She even went out of her ways to make us feel like VIPs. Very much would want to revisit Vienna with her as our guide since we feel like there are so much more we would want to learn from her. She may not have many ratings here on Tourbylocals, but you don’t have to worry about her experience or knowledge. You can’t go wrong!

A charming and personable guide. Very knowledgeable about history and a great story teller. Navigates the group through crowds in the museum, skipping crowded exhibits and then circling back when the crowds have moved on. An outstanding experience..

Having chosen the Hapsburg three hour tour, Laura was the perfect guide. She brought history to life with interesting and lighthearted tales and stories. The tour included St Stephen’s cathedral and priority entry to the Sisi museum and the Hapsburg catacombs. Without realising Laura transported us back in time. Without question, I can wholeheartedly recommend her.
