Being an Austrian-American in the beautiful city of Vienna and sharing its beauty and fascinating history with you turns out to be my true calling in life. I have been a private tour guide for over 12 years and I passionately love my job! I was born and raised in Vienna where I also attended Vienna University (Associate Degree in Tourism and PhD in Linguistics). After graduating I had a very fun job, I worked as a flight attendant for Austrian Airlines. I really got infected with the travel bug, and also learned that I thrive when working in an international environment. On one of my trips I met my husband and moved to Los Angeles. America became a second home to my two twin children and myself. We are all US citizens aswell as Austrian citizens. I even went to school in Los Angeles and finished a graphic design degree at UCLA. Sadly many years ago I became widowed and my kids and I moved back to my beloved city of Vienna where I went to school again to become a certified Austrian tour guide - a demanding training of about 2 years. When it comes to my tours my top priority is to give you the most memorable experience possible in whatever time frame we have. I will show you the most important, and also the most charming parts of the city and instruct you on the sites and the history of Vienna. My tours are (hopefully) interesting, informative and humorous. I LOVE history, I have a profound interest in the rise of the house of Habsburg, its downfall after World War I, Austria's dark path leading to National Socialism and World War II. I am interested and quite knowledgeable about Jewish history in Vienna, starting in the Middle Ages, the dark years in Austrian history and the contemporary discussion of art restitution. Please check out my "Women in Gold tour"! One more thing: I absolutely love children. As a mother of 16 year old twins I have a good amount of experience what kids and young adults like and what they find rather boring, please check out my "Kids Foodie and Fun Tour"! (during summer months) If you have read so far that means that you are indeed considering me as your tour guide. Please do contact me and I hope we get to know each other very soon in Vienna! I promise that I will do my best to make this a memorable experience for you and your family! Best regards from this side of the world, Susanne Fully Certified Austrian Guide PhD in Linguistics (German, English and French) Associate Degree in Tourism Graphic Design & Photography Degree from UCLA Extension - Go Bruins! I do not have a car of my own but I can arrange for a separate car and driver. Vienna is a city like New York City where owning a car is not necessary and if so a hassle with parking.

Overview of your Vienna tour

Have you seen the movie "Woman in Gold" with Helen Mirren? This movie deals with a famous painting by Gustav Klimt that had to be restituted by the Belvedere to its former Jewish owners. It was a wonderful movie and it inspired me to work out this tour! We will experience Vienna's most splendid palace and have a little lecture about baroque castle and garden architecture, we will then visit the fantastic art gallery of the palace, and see one of the most iconic paintings of all times: Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss". Gustav Klimt was quite a Ladies Whisperer and I will tell you why most women fell for him. One of his young artist friends was Egon Schiele. We will explore expressionist art and compare it to Klimt's style. Over coffee and tea a discussion on art restitution will follow. We will then leave the Belvedere and take the tram to the Secessionist Building and see another great painting by Gustav Klimt, the Beethoven Freeze. Our tour will conclude on the Naschmarket or Cafe Museum

This was a super interesting tour by Suzanne learning about Klimt and his art as well as the Belvedere and its owner, Prinz Eugen. Seeing how close the Turks were to Vienna and the rewards bestowed on its hero means so much more than just reading about it. Susanne made the history come alive. She brought the same excitement to learning about the messages in Klimt's paintings beyond their beauty. Visiting the Succession House and stopping for pastries were delightful bonuses.

I enjoyed every minute of it. Susanne collaborated with me to maximize this opportunity, and she carefully “cherry-picked” particular paintings and venues.

All my comments on the toursso far apply here. We particularly liked the museum and history surrunding Gustav Klimt as a person as well as artist. Thank you for adding the tour of the magnificant Schoenbrunn Palace garden and the garden restaurant for a small salad. And thank you for the careful instructuins about where to enter for our dinner and concert tonight.

You would be very lucky if you were able to book Susanne ! What talent! What knowledge ! The perfect guide - just enough of everything we asked for and yet, we wanted more and booked a second day. She even included professional pictures of us! She also does professional pet photos , if you are traveling with your pet. Don't leave Vienna without her guide ! You won't be sorry.
