To really encounter this beautiful city – to discover its layers, its culture, its history – you’ll need a local who knows and loves it. Join me on my all-inclusive Melbourne Unpacked experience so you can feel that this is a city you truly know. This is a five-hour walking tour around the heart of Melbourne, though tram rides and a one-hour river cruise will break up the walking so you don’t get too exhausted. Together we’ll experience the different views of Melbourne, including both a bird’s eye view from Melbourne Skydeck, up one of the city’s tallest buildings, and from a riverboat as we explore the waterway on which the city was founded, the Yarra River. We’ll wander the streets and laneways, and I’ll share with you the stories behind the city’s founding and growth. We’ll see famous sites, significant architecture, public art and more. By the end of this tour, you’ll be catching a tram like a local, know where to get a great coffee and you might have even started to understand our love of AFL footy.
This tour has some flexibility, but will always include: • Me greeting you at your hotel or a convenient city location • Iconic landmarks of Federation Square, St Paul’s Cathedral and Flinders Street Station • A relaxing cruise the Yarra River • Melbourne Skydeck for a bird’s eye view across the city • The interior of State Library Victoria, including its famous dome and some of the significant items in its collection • The historic Coop’s Shot Tower • One or more tram rides We will also visit other locations, which vary depending on your interest and the day/time. Examples include: • Queen Victoria Market • Royal and Central Arcades • Lanes and alleys showcasing street art and local ‘greening’ projects • The ‘Paris end’ of Collins Street and Victorian architecture of nearby Spring Street • World Heritage listed Carlton Gardens and Royal Exhibition Building
